It appears that his father was living with him at that time, and assumedly his father's second wife had died before that time.

No sign of an Emma P Adams in Connecticut in 1881. The 1910 census tells us that Emma and her parents were born in Massachusetts.

She was buried at the Greenwood Cemetery, Avon, Hartford County, Connecticut
