PRESS RELEASE
Classics within their genre, The Fog (1980) and The Howling (1981) ooze with blood, guts, gore and plenty of screams! Directed by John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, They Live) and Joe Dante (Gremlins, Innerspace, Small Soldiers) respectively, they are almost considered as manuals on how to create modern movie terror. Witty dialogue, fast action and fiendish foes guarentee duvet-clutching, nail-biting and skin-jumping fun, just in time for a frighteningly good Halloween.
The Fog is set in Antonio Bay, a sleepy and quaint little seaside town about to celebrate it's centenary. On the eve of this momentous day a mysterious, glowing fog rolls in to town and suddenly people start to die, horribly. Slowly the shameful secret of the town unravels a tale of the greedy and cruel town founders and the inhabitants of the nearby leper colony. Now a hundred years later a new generation of Antonio Bay-ers must reap what their ancestors sowed. Starring horror's sweetheart Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies), Adrienne Barbeau (Escape From New York, Cannonball Run) and the scream goddess Janet Leigh (Psycho, The Manchurian Candidate) this movie makes you never want to be caught in a fog again!
The Fog:
Sandy Dennis: This town sits around for 100 years and nothing happens, then one night the whole place falls apart! The Howling, based on the best selling novel by Gary Brandner, brings to life folklore's scariest monsters, the werewolves, in all their glorious fur, fangs and claws. News anchorwoman Karen White, played by Dee Wallace (ET, Cujo, Critters, The Frighteners) is burnt-out, she's been on the trail of a serial killer and needs a break. Send to "The Colony", and idyllic retreat, Dee soon finds that there's more to this health farm than spa baths and massages and it's not a matter of unwinding but surviving! Featuring revolutionary and groundbreaking special effects, The Howling raised the benchmark for other monster movies to follow.
The Howling:
Bookstore owner: Silver bullets or fire, that's the only way to get rid of the damn things. They're worse than cockroaches.
