Albert Finney in Saturday Night, Sunday Morning provided the inspiration to move to Nottingham and the only reason why I went to Nottingham University to complete a PGCE. (It seemed just so different to the South East). Lived in a "post grad" house in Bramcote.A very strange arrangemet where twenty semi alcoholic males lived together. Saturday mornings were never complete without watching "Tiswas" and Sunday mornings were never complete without a hangover. This was the year John Lennon was shot. We were all disturbed for at least five minutes. |
The year quickly passed. Unfortunately there were no jobs in Nottingham, regretfully I took one at Sir Charles Lucas School, Colchester Essex. All I can say is "I will never live in Essex again". The highlight of that time was a stunning motor bike crash, which put me in Broomfield hospital for several months.Strangely I had a most enjoyable time there. Three years later got a job in Nottingham. Living in Bramcote then West Bridgford. Worked for fifteen years at Bluecoat in Aspley, then for five and a half years at Newark High. I now work in Retford. |
