Education Programme

The Saxon Sanctuary offers a variety of programmes for schools,  colleges and universities. Details can be obtained from education@saxonsanctuary.org.uk

The most popular is a cross-curricular 'monks day' for Key Stage 2 children which gives them a taste of the Benedictine life, including a robed procession, bee-keeping and a frugal lunch.

Brass-rubbing and bell-ringing are available options.

Sixth forms and Universities often devise their own programme in collaboration with The Saxon Sanctuary, perhaps majoring on architecture, wall-painting or memorials.

The Saxon Sanctuary's education programme stays fresh through the close involvement of Wootton Wawen C.E. Primary School, which holds regular school services and plays in St Peter's. With the Education Authority's artist-in-residence, local schoolchildren are creating a gigantic millennium wall-hanging for the Chancel.
