Breeding

If you decide to breed from your pet mouse, wait until she is 12 weeks old. Go to the pet shop or breeder from whom you bought the doe and choose a buck of the same variety if you want the young to be the same colour. If you want to experiment in breeding mice of different colours, choose a buck with a different coat.

The buck (male) and the doe (female) should share the same cage until you see she is in kindle. You must then move the buck into another cage which you should have ready for him.

The baby mice will be born 21 days from the time of the mating and there may be any number from 8~l2 in the litter.

Do not look into the nest for at least the first 3 days, but after that you can look very carefully to see that all the young are well. Give the mother extra food and milk at this time, as she is feeding them.
