Preparing for your pet
When you have permission to keep a pet mouse, you must prepare a place for it to live in. You will need a cage made of strong plastic or metal, as rats and mice can gnaw through anything else. Find a suitable place for it, which is warm, but not in direct sunlight. It should also be away from draughts and open windows.
There are 3 different types of cages, including a stacking one. These are very good, but they are expensive. Your pets will always enjoy the chance to explore and play outside their cage.
This is a good ready-made cage to keep mice in. It has good sleeping quarters and a solid backed wheel for exercise.
