Feed Me

Wild mice will eat almost anything that human beings eat. However, your pets will need special food. It is best to give them two meals a day. You can buy mixtures of suitable grain and fat-rich seed.

The amount of food you give depends or the size of the animals. Don't overfeed as uneaten food must be thrown away each time the cage is cleaned. As well as dry food, pet rats and mice need some fresh vegetables or fruit. You can give them small pieces of food that you don't eat, such as apple cores, or the tops of carrots or beetroots.

This should be fed in the morning. In the early evening, give them more of the mixture, but add some titbits, such as a little wholemeal bread, moistened with milk, and some nuts or a piece of dried fruit.

Finally, always check that your pets have fresh water. It is best to use a drip feed bottle so that the water will not become fouled. Your pets will soon learn how to drink from it. Make sure that the bottle is securely fixed to the cage.
