Three Blind Mice

Number: any number
Age: 3-6
Time: 1-2 minutes
Adult supervision: leading singing (if necessary)

Despite the title you don`t have to limit the game to the three mice and one for the farmer's wife. Any number of players can take part, although in each round there is ever only one player who will be the farmers wife who stands in the middle of the circle that is formed by the other players.

Before they start, a "mouse hole", a place of safety is decided. This can be a part of a wall, a couch, a tree (if playing outside). It will be to here that the players will run to when the singing stops to avoid being caught by the farmers wife.

Now the others join hands to dance round and sing:

     Three blind mice,
Three blind mice,
See how they run,
See how they run.

They all ran after the farmer's wife
Who cut off their tails with a carving knife.
Did you ever see such a thing in your life
As three blind mice?

As they sing the last word 'mice', the children let go of each other's hands and run for their 'mouse hole'.

The farmer's wife has to try and catch one of the players before he or she reaches the 'mouse hole'.

Any mouse caught becomes the farmer's wife in the next round. And so on.
