Our March 2001 Sacred Journey reached out to include a vastly international group of participants honoring the global serpent energy. This journey into the sacred world of the Maya was graced by a second visit to the Owl Shaman, who this year offered us the Toltec New Fire ceremony, by the presence of teacher Miguel Angel, formerly the caretaker of Chichen Itza, by don Erasmo, a traditional dancer who taught us steps to the dance of Queztalcoatl, and by don Florencio, a revered Mayan shaman and herbalist, who received each of the journey participants into his home to offer them an authentic Mayan Limpia, a special energetic cleansing ceremony. Additionaly, at one of the multiple ceremonies following our journey, we were blessed by Maria Garcia, a Mayan Priestess from Belize, niece of don Eligio Panti, the famous Mayan Healer-Priest of that same area, honored in the book "SASTUN," and by the Ixchel Tropical Rain Forest Preserve's Traditional Healer's Foundation. Merilyn and Maria shared together in offering a cleansing ceremony for all the participants at Uxmal on the Spring Equinox. The 2001 journey was an energetic stretch and a huge success, gratefully received by the Maya for its intent to honor the celestial serpent. In addition to the Dreaming teachings, purification offerings and temple guidance given by Merilyn, two Kundalini Yoga teachers, sharing in the offering during the Chinese and Mayan year of the serpent, were very well received in the spirit of a global tantra, transcending traditions, cultures and religions. The MesoAmerican and Eastern teachings each bowed to honor, accept and receive one another, marveling at the authenticity and reverence with which each tradition honors the energy. We even wish to joyfully announce the second conception ever to take place within the groups with whom we work. Long time lovers of one another, Yoga and Dreaming, (not necessarily in that order) our Yoga teachers and journey organisers, Pavllou and Guru Dharam are anticipating the birth of a little Zip or Zotz from the Mayan calendar in October. Our 2002-2003 journey will further expand to include more of Uxmal and perhaps even Guatemala. These journeys are beginning to attract the interest of the alternative and healing media. Merilyn's new book is now available in the U.S. and Canada under the title of "DON JUAN AND THE ART OF SEXUAL ENERGY, The Rainbow Serpent of the Toltecs," via Inner Traditions International / Bear and Company, and will soon be released as a Spanish edition in Mexico. A German edition is now available from Econ/Lotus. We thank all of you for your interest, and hope to see some of you with us in 2002-2003.
