History

Stage a Chord was formed in 1995 by June & John Holmes of St.Giles Drive Wadebridge after having been persuaded by those in Wadebridge who enjoy musicals. They both have been involved in amateur productions for many years both on stage and behind the scenes, and are ideally suited to manage a musical society.

The Society was initially underwritten by the Holmes's and was run by them. Private donations have been gratefully received from local people, plus two awards from the BT In The Community program. The tickets for the various productions have been priced so as to be affordable to everyone, typical seats being approximately £8. In June 2001 we finally achieved Charity status and we now can look forward to other sources of funding.

One of the most successful features of how the Society operates is that no one is allowed to sour the atmosphere of rehearsals and even the musical director has to be polite to the performers. In essence every evening that Stage a Chord meets, it is in a spirit of friendship and enjoyment; long may it stay that way.
All performances have been in Wadebridge Town Hall, usually during March, April, or May and have run for four or five nights. See "Current Production" for details of future shows.

Mr. Steve Ricketts is our current Chairman which has allowed John to ease back and enjoy the scene building and the directing. We have had four musicals directors to date: Janet Townsend, Verna Jones, Barry Millington and Don Deacon. John Holmes has directed all of the last five shows. However, he isn't getting any younger and he has decided that 2006 was to be his last, so, we are on the look out to find a new Director.

The rest of the management committee comprise of Rachel Daniels - Vice Chair, June Holmes - Secretary and Mike Lawson - Treasurer

Stage a chord could not have succeeded without the support of the local community. From generous donations made by individuals, grant funding from N.C.D.C Economic Development, financial support from local councils, assistance from other local groups, and the efforts of those back stage and front of house, many thanks to everyone.

For further information on Stage a Chord please contact Steve Ricketts on (01208 816997) or Mrs June Holmes on Wadebridge (01208) 814142 who is the Secretary

Stage a Chord hopes to run for many years to provide a facility for the talented people of Wadebridge and surrounding villages.
