Keswick
- ‘the heart of the
English Lake District’
|
Keswick is a beautiful location in which to
study, whether you wish to concentrate solely on your Studies or take
the opportunity to combine a holiday with a Study Course.
It is possible to combine a Course at LEL with a holiday of
quiet enjoyment of the surrounding area of exceptional natural beauty,
perhaps with gentle activities such as launch trips on the lake,
boating, guided walks, mini-coach tours, or visits to historic houses.
If you want something more energetic, activities in and
around Keswick include fell-walking, cycling, golf, horse-riding,
climbing, sailing, canoeing, and wind surfing.

Ransome.

Attractions
The attractions of Keswick
- splendidly
situated between the foothills of Skiddaw (931m) and the shores of
lake Derwentwater -
include the Theatre by the Lake (www.theatrebythelake.com)
a brand new theatre for Keswick presenting drama, music, dance,
special events and exhibitions all year round.
There is also a cinema, museums (of
manuscripts and local curiosities, “cars of the stars”, and pencil
making), parks, a leisure pool, a climbing centre, and a plentiful supply
of restaurants, pubs and tearooms, where you can sample traditional
Cumbrian food.
Close by Keswick is the spectacularly-sited
4,000-year-old Castlerigg Stone Circle.
