Who are we?
Two experienced and qualified Language
teachers, who open their home to adults, from all round the world, who
want to come to a beautiful part of England to learn or improve their
English for work or leisure.
My name is Jo and I am the Course Director.
I am an experienced Language Teacher (B.Ed. Hons,
Cert. TEFL) qualified to teach adults English and French as
Foreign Languages. I also have a Management Diploma and have worked in education
and business both as a teacher and a manager.
My husband, Mike, is also an experienced
teacher (B.A. Hons.), qualified to teach English Language, English
Literature and Drama. He,
like me, has worked in education and business.
Where are the Courses held?
The Courses are taught at our home, in a
teaching room that is light and airy, with magnificent views of lake
Derwentwater and the surrounding mountains. We live in a small, quiet,
very beautiful village on the outskirts of the busy market town,
Keswick, in the heart of the English Lake District.
Who comes to study English with us?
Our clients are adults from around the globe. They want the opportunity to study English in
a quiet, delightful setting in the English Lake District National
Park.
They want personalised, small group teaching,
where emphasis is placed on meeting the language needs and interests
of the individual student.
They prefer the freedom of guest house, hotel
or self-catering accommodation rather than staying in a residential
language setting.
They come to this spectacular part of England
so that they can also take advantage of the many leisure activities
that the Lake District has to offer.
How many students will be in my class?
There will never be more than five other
students in your class. You
may have one-to-one teaching or be in a small group with two, three, four
or five other students.
