" OUR MOTORS "
Lesa's Bike

I own a Kawasaki ZX6R G2. This
little beauty is in black, grey and purple - unlike the standard green.
'Top' reliability you won't get from any other bike and unlike
other makes, it hasn't had to be recalled. Although, it's a comfy ride
(some critics unfairly call it a dull tourer with not much Oomph! in
the top end) ... it does GO!! The handling is brilliant and it's
very smooth but progressive when piling on the power. AND you don't get
sore after a long ride! The more miles I cover, the more value I seem to
get. I haven't used that much oil ... or even experienced ZXs' notorious
carb-icing (yet). It does about 160 miles on a full tank when I'm not
trying and about 200 when I am. It's best ridden with Bridgestone
BT56SS tyres (yet to change mine!). There's easy access to service
anything on the bike. Others have found the brakes not as responsive as
other 600ccs ... in one magazine a guy suggested using EBC HH sintered
pads to transformed the brakes (???) I don't know... I haven't
experienced any problems. Speed wise I reckon 165mph tops ?! I haven't
had a chance to open it up fully yet!
My rating: By far the most
complete, all-rounder middleweight CC bike, with a stylish design! (well
... I've got to say that haven't I? I'm a chic on 2 wheels - appearance
matters!!!) Need a nutter-of-a-sports-bike (and an uncomfy long
ride) buy a Yamaha R1 / or Guido's bike ~ HA HA (AND definitely
don't volunteer to be a pillion!)
Bye Bye Yamaha TZR 125 ...

It was "bon voyage" to
my first little noisy 'lawnmower' this week, after a quick sale! It's a single cylinder 2stroke with a power
valve and was really quite quick for a 125! I managed about 75mph after
giving it a damn good thrashing! (oooer Missus!) As well as being a good bike to learn
on, you felt like a bit of a lunatic! You only got anywhere with the throttle pinned against the end
stop! However, I can thoroughly recommend one for fun and complete
reliability (unlike the TZR250 reverse cylinder).
Guido's
Bike
 I own a
Honda VFR400RR. NC30. It's a
Race rep of the mighty RC30. Even though it doesn't have the gut
busting, arm wrenching power of it's bigger brother, it does have
fantastic handling. It can quite easily keep up with or cut up the best
big bikes on twisty roads during a weekend blast. Yes, Yes I know
what you're thinking... it's only a 400! CORRECT! But it's an absolutely
mental motor ~ Red line at 14.500rpm, but I've taken it well past that on
many an occasion. In fact it thrives on revs. If you don't keep the needle
above 10.000rpm the fun tails off quickly. It really is a bike for the
loony that needs to be ridden like a 2 stroke, flat out everywhere. The
one thing you must never do is use the brakes (!!!). Although, they are very
good stoppers, never slow down for anything! Definitely, the most fun bike
I've ever ridden and can still muster 135Mph, not bad eh?! To
squeeze a few more drops of power from the bonkers V4, I've fitted an
electronic derestrictor, race exhaust system and noisy end can. It
has been up to Honda's infamous reputation for reliability. Other than
regular oil changes, servicing and tyre changes (Best tyres~ Bridgestone), the
only other part that has needed to be changed was the clutch, which was
remarkably easy to do. My
rating: Great fun, but could do with more power. If you want one of
these bikes; would like a bit more power; and have more money than sense!
... buy an
RC30 or better still an RC45.
4 Wheels !
We
both drive Honda Civics...Yes!! And we're not over 60yrs
old!!! Lesa's is an LSi. Very nippy, great fun and very reliable (but
expensive on parts because of the Honda name!). After being on the bikes
... there's not a lot of comparison with speed. It's road handling is
superb. We think they are just the right size of car for London driving
and parking!
