Below is a sequence of images of (almost) the same view under the same conditions, just to have a play with infra-red digital photography.

The image above is a normal visible light image. The sky is overexposed and coloured bunting is visible across the bridge.

The middle image is the raw image taken through a Hoya R72 filter. This filter passes near infra-red (which the Fuji S602 is sensitive to) along with some red light. I think that this image gives an interesting sky effect.

The final image is the monochrome version which should be close to a true near infra-red image. Note that the sky has cloud detail, the (living) foliage is bright (because the action of photosynthesis has the effect of emitting near IR), the bridge is dark and the bunting has all but disappeared.
