Tangerine Dream is one band that I never get tired of. In spite of being around since the late 1960s, composing many film scores and being very influential they have never been in the mainstream (probably deliberately). The “Tangs” (as John Peel used to call them) were pioneers of electronic music. Although technology has made great advances in recent years, the electronics of the 1970s were not so reliable. The sleeve notes of the “Soundmill Navigator” CD give a good indication of the problems of giving live performances with drifting, malfunctioning equipment. Tangerine Dream have remained at the forefront of the electronic music genre in my opinion. I am fortunate to have seen them perform live 6 times so far.
