Big things are happening...

April 2009: Mara and I visited Paris to celebrate my 50th birthday. A very enjoyable time was had with visits to all the usual landmarks, a very pleasant boat trip down the Seine and a waitress doing rabbit impersonations. Some photos are here.

January 2009: I have updated my Friends page on this web site.

December 2008: I have updated my brewery page on this web site.

November 2008: Unfortunately, Mara's job didn't live up to the promises she had been made. She ended up being a PA to two directors and administrator as well as the office manager role she had allegedly been recruited for. She ended up doing the jobs of at least 3 people, with no effective support from either director or HR. On top of this, she was commuting for 4+ hours per day, worked well over her flexitime hours and didn't take any holiday or sick leave. Obviously this situation was unsustainable and when several calls for help were ignored she felt she had little option but to resign. It is a shame that a company could lose such a willing and hard worker simply because of one bad HR apple and ineffective management. She is better off out of it and I now have my wife back.

2 November 2008: I brewed my first beer in Saffron Walden. More details here. The brewery and sampling room still need a bit of work on them which will keep me occupied during 2009 I expect...

September 2008: I attended Newmarket races with a very enjoyable company day out.

August 2008: Mara starts a new job in Cambridge.

July/August 2008: We are off for my second visit to South America. Images here.

May 2008: The house is now taking shape...so I can start work on my brewery and sample room...
