Finals Night 2008 - details here (pdf) Bridge Secure Title - the Bridge have secured the championship this year with two matches in hand, after their 5-0 victory in a postponed match against Horns Lodge. Inter-league Success - Lewes have won division 2 of the Sussex County inter-league competition with a 5-2 victory over Redhill C. They will now have a chance to test themselves against the cream of the county in the top division next season. Finals Night - will be held at the Clayton-Keymer Royal British Legion Club on Mon 19 May. League Cup Victory - Brewers Droops retained their supremacy in the off-the-spot competition , finishing with 5 wins out of 5, and a seasonally adjusted points total of 22.8. Finals Night 2007 - details here: word / pdf League Cup Final- Brewers Droops ran out victorious against the Laughing Fish in the Final of the Off The Spot Cup. Final score was Brewers 4 Laughing Fish 1. See match report. Honourable mention for Lewes league - the league web site receives a mention in a history of bar billiards on the blog of a long established Snooker company operating in the East Midlands since 1938. Clayton & Keymer Champions - CK secured the championship title by beating the Bridge 3-2. The final game was also a head-to-head for the player of the year, with Ted Stringer taking the title by virtue of an early season drawn game against Colin Humphrey. League Cup Final - The final of the League Cup (off-the-spot) competition will NOT NOW be held on 14 May at the Black Horse, Lewes. The two finalists are Brewers Droops and Laughing Fish. All-England Team Championship - Entries are now invited for the Watney Mann Cup, which is also the Sussex qualifying competition for the All-England Team Championship. Teams are of 5 players, matches will be on a 2-leg home & away basis, and the winning team will represent Sussex at the national finals, which take place in Reading on Sunday, 21st October. Entry is FREE, closing date for entries will be 31st March. Details from Mark James. Sussex Open 2007 - Sunday, 3rd June, 2007 at Inland Revenue Club, Worthing. Entries are now invited, strictly on a first-come-first-served basis. The cost is £10.00 per player, to include a programme. All entries, enquiries etc. to Mark James. Portsmouth Mermaid Open 2007 - will be held on Sunday 29th April 2007 at Moneyfields Sports and Social Club, Moneyfields Avenue, Copnor, Portsmouth. Entries no later than the 25th March 2007. Individual Competitions - See latest draw. New Season 2006-07 - starts on Monday 9 October; team details and fixture lists are here. We have eight teams this season and, in addition to the normal league competition, we have the league cup which will again be under the ‘off the spot’ rule. This year the league cup is divided into two divisions; each team will play teams in their own division home and away, but they will also play teams in the other division just once each. to follow. The rest of the silverware went mostly to the Bridge with Derek
Taylor and Jenny Edwards reserving some for the host club. League Cup ends in tie - after the last week of the League Cup (off the spot) competition the Bridge and Chailey Lodge are level on both points and matches won. The title will be decided by a play-off at the Firemans Arms on Mon 22 May. Championship goes to the wire - The league championship will be decided at the Bridge on the last league match of the season, where Bridge entertain current champions Black Horse. The title will go to the match winners as recent results have left the two teams virtually level.
