Money Cheat 1
1. Find or make a saved game that brings in a lot of cash each year (don't include running costs and loan interest in your decision)
2. Go to load games in TTD and count how far down the list the game save you want to cheat on is. ( Count Autosave as 00, and continue 01, 02 etc)
3. Exit TTD and rename TRTxx.SV1 to TRTxx.SV0 (xx is the number you counted). You will find this file in your tycoon directory.
4. Restart TTD and choose Create scenario. Choose load scenario and you should see your game save on the list. Load it into the scenario editor. Leave TTD running for a while. Your vehicles will carry on running and making money all the time the game is in the sceanrio editor. The advantage is that you are not paying running costs or loan interest, and you can expand the towns you operate in, at will.
5. Choose Save Scenario.
6. Choose Load Scenario and count how far down the list your game save is (starting at 00 on the first one on the list).
7. Exit TTD and rename TTDyy.SV0 to TTDxx.SV1 (yy is the number you counted in stage 6, xx is the number you counted in stage 2).
8. Restart TTD and choose Load Game.
9. Load up the right game save and have fun!

Money Cheat 2
At the beginning of the game make a very long train tunnel that you canīt afford by clicking the mouse on the spot where you want to put the tunnel. A message should come up like this "canīt build tunnel here costs 1834304039". If this message comes up, try putting the tunnel in another place. Suddenly you might get the tunnel and the money that the tunnel costs. If it doesnīt work try it on another map.
This cheat was submitted by Thomas Ivholm. It only works on the original version of Transport Tycoon.
Sabotage
The picture above shows how to sabotage the competition. I am yellow and have constructed a depot leading into the back of opposition's depot. The opposition has a train in the depot and a train in the station. Both of those trains are incurring running costs and neither can move because my diesel is keeping the signals red. My train is stopped, so it costs me only the price of buying the train in the first place.
Game Saves
Do you want to be rich and have lots of supersonic planes?
Easy, just download the file rich.zip (163 KB) and unzip it into your tycoon directory.
Train Unloading
To make a train stop unloading and continue, click on send train to depot just after the money is paid, then click it again once the train has left the station. Clicking the icon the second time cancels the order and the train continues on it's normal route. This works for loading as well, but it will decrease your station's ratings.
Station Ratings
To increase your ratings, order a vehicle with a large capacity to full load at a station. The station's ratings will increase all of the time the vehicle is loading. If you do this, make sure you have facilities to load/unload more than one vehicle at a time.
Passengers
It is always good to start your company with a passenger service as you make money on journey's both to and from towns. If you want to run an industry transport service, check the cargo payment rate graph and run a medium or long distance link carrying the cargo. Short distance links work alright with road vehicles, but when using trains etc a long distance, efficient (2 or more fast vehicles) link is more profitable. The rich.zip game save above shows how effective a fast, long distance, passenger service is.
Heliports
Bulldoze a square in the middle of a very large city and place a heliport there. Passengers will gather in their hundreds.
Shares
At the beginning of the game buy 75% or as much as you can afford of your competitors companies. When one of them becomes succesful, scrape together enough money and buy the last 25%. Check the companies' loan before buying them out as you take this over as well.
Cost Estimate
Hold down the shift key whilst building something. This will show you how much it will cost if you actually build it. I know this is in the manual, but you have probably forgotten it anyway.
Money from other Companies
At the beginning of a game buy 75% of a company and when they take out a huge 300,000 dollar loan or something, sell all of the 75% and you will have thousands.

More Sabotage
You can cut off key competitor truck routes by building a train track across the important road, buying a cheap train, and stopping it on the road. This will prevent competitor's trucks from passing. To actually put this into action, you will need a depot connected to the track across the road, so that you can buy the train. You will then need to order that train to ignore the red light in the depot (check the manual if you've forgotten how to do this), and then order it to stop when it is on the road. The depot can then be removed.

Kill the suckers!
Instead of cutting off the competitors vehicles, destroy them. Have a track loop around the road where the trucks go most often, put a train on the track, and blow up the depot. The train will go round in circles killing most trucks while they pass.

Get Rid of that Road!
The cheat is that you go to a computers lorry way(road) and build a railway track over it, then delete it and they dont get any money.

Block the boats!
The idea is about boats; When the opponent is using boats to transport oil and you don't enjoy this , all you have to do is to raise land around his docks.Of course, this requires some money. If you want, you can raise land around his depots too so he'll never be able to sell his ships.

Sell those shares and gain millions!
I have got an awesome cheat. Wait for any company to go bankrupt. When they ask you if you want to buy it for xxxxxx (x=cost of company), say no. Quickly pause the game and buy 75% share in that company. Now keep that companys window that has there face and junk on the screen. After about 3-9 months, the company will be bankrupt. Since you still have the stocks and that stuff on the screen, you will see that their value has skyrocketed. Now sell your stocks for several hundred million!

Eliminate the competition.
If you want to eliminate the computer's train, wait for it to pull into a station. Then quickly build a depot so that the track from your depot connects to the track of the computer's station. Buy a cheep locomotive and tell it to ignore the signal. Your train will get into a head-on
with the computer's train blowing it up! This costs you the locomotive so choose a money making train to eliminate.

Trap your rivals.
This is a way to trap the computer's road vehicles. If any of their road vehicles are using a road that you have built, there is a way to trap them. Build some-what long 'tributaries' off the main road and when the truck/bus is coming down that stretch of road blow up its road in front of him, but make sure it is past the tributary. When they hit the blown-up portion of the road, they will turn around. They should head right up the tributary! If not just keep blowing up road until they do. Once they do blow up the intersection from it and the main road. Now they are stuck! The computer keeps paying running costs and after a while, the trapped vehicles break down about 5 million times a day!

Take a loan.
At the beginning take out as much of a loan that you can preferabbly 1mil now choose the four largest cities and place airports in them then build 4 or more planes and tell them to go to each airport this will bring in 63000 the first trip and even more when its done the whole loop.

A helpful hint
Suppose you are in the converting phase - from conventional to MagLev. You have some oilfields going, and consider using lorries, to move oil, from MagLev to normal (or Vise Versa).
I have a better idea! Lay the two stations with some space apart, and the use an Oil Boat instead! You make up for about 12 cars in a time!

Buy the sea
You can buy out the sea. Just build a ship yard and delete it. Quickly pause the game and go to buy land button. Unpause the game and buy the land that is no longer water. This can be used to sabatage, raise land, or just about do anything.

Popularity Tip
Its a real pain when a city or town denies you the building of your station/airport/bus station, there is a very simple method of improving your appeal to the public. Plant loads of trees in the towns vicinity checking up on the progress with the local council. You will be allowed to build that station when it reaches poor. Be sure to plant enough and unfortunately in highly wooded areas its a bit tricky to implement.
