How to make a train route.

Tutorial: Trains

1 - Making a train station couldn't be simpler. First, find a suitable point in the landscape. The land has to be flat and you have to have enough money. However, there is a limit to the amount of stations you are permitted in one game, and a new station can't be too close to another. Then, click on RAIL transport from the top bar, and select to build a new station from the pop-up box. When you are happy with the dimensions, select where you want the station to go and click. Remember to build a station at the other end of the route, obviously!

2 - You will then be faced with building the track to link the two (or more) stations together. Just select the direction of the track from the pop-up menu and you'll be away. The track has to be built on flat land, and it can't be passed over opponent's tracks or roads. If you need to lower or raise an area of land, just select the appropriate button from the pop-up menu and click away. Remember, this can cost a lot of money.

3 - Building a depot is crucial for train transport. Just click the depot button and place it near a station. I prefer to place a station at either end of the circuit, just in case the train needs a quick service.

4 - You will then have to buy a train, obviously. To do this, just click on the depot you would like the train to be built in. Choose the appropriate carriages and then your train will be ready and waiting in the depot.

5 - Once you have the window open for the train (seen here - top left) you will need to give it orders. Click on the orders button (on right of window) and then tell it where to go. Once you have given it all its orders, you can click on the bar at the bottom of the window (it should have a green flag on the left), and then the train will puff away.
