Carmelized Pecans

1/4 cup water
2 Tbsp sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 Tbsp HOT chili powder (I usually just toast my own whole dried red chilis and grind them up)

In a skillet, combine water and sugar and stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Add pecans and stir well as the water evaporates. After about 5 minutes add the chili powder and toss well to coat the pecans. Continue stirring until all the water has evaporated and the pan is dry. Turn pecans onto waxed paper to cool.
