Choosing a character:
I recommend the mutant girl who looks human. Her eye laser is quite powerful and never runs out of ammo, and she can gain entrance to human cities without confrontation.
Walk around a bit, remebering to pick up everything you can find and talk to everyone who will answer. In most villages you should be able to get important information from the firetender, the shaman and the himukk, but don’t negelect other characters. Always ask for the latest news from eveyone. You can only save your game by sleeping indoors, so lose no opportunity, you never know what's around the corner.
You must eat regularly, and the only way you can get food is by killing animals, but hell they want to kill you anyway. You can replenish points is by easting Tuckel hearts. Dried hearts only repelenish half of your health points, while fresh hearts replenish them completely. You get these hearts from killing tortoise-like Tuckels, so don't pass any up. Some shoot caustic blood, while others have tentacles. The latter are best dealt with at long range.
As you start exploring, don't attack humanoids or humans unless they attack you - you will soon learn which are aggresive and which are not. Look out for nooks and corners, and also caves, in the rocky areas, where you will find caches of weapons. You can also sleep in caves. See the co-ordinates for the most important places at the end of this file; naturally, you'll have to find the scatscan first.
You can roam around as much as you like; for instance, an item found in an isolated house will enable you to defeat a pesky Urse. However, I only give you here strictly what you must do to finish the game.
The first thing you have to do is travel to Okkarn, where a prisoner has to be saved. Don't tangle with him yet. Just talk to the himukk and the shaman. Also, a tradesman will sell you a weapon and give you additional information.
You have to go to Nivvik, where you need to speak to the shaman to find out where the Oracle is. Unfortunately, he has been abducted, so you have to find him. When he does, he tells you how to get there - follow his instructions.
When you finally get to the Oracle, he requests that you find a sacred apple, which happens to be in Zero Town. Well, get yourself over there. The radiation there will affect you, so keep an eye on the old bottle (your health meter) and have a plentiful supply of hearts.
Explore around and talk to people, particularly the merchant. Make sure you find the tokens. Leave the guards alone. Then just grab the apple and fight your way out. Away from Zero Town you will have no remaining effects from the radiation.
The Oracle thanks you for the apple and sends you to Okkarn to free the prisoner. When you've done so, talk to him. Now you know you have to get to Yvrium and somehow free Equitus. So, off we go.
In Yvrium, talk to everyone and poke your nose everywhere. When you've learned the lay of the land, free the mutant and get the heck out of there. Of course, first you must question the tavern keeper to find out where the Sub is.
So, now it's back to Zero Town. Go to the guards and give the password. They'll instruct you how to get to the Sub. Once below, find the himukk and pump him for all the information you can. Find your way out and head for Yvrium once more.
You can do this in any order, but it is safer to talk to the tavern keeper about the captain, to the rogue about the City below (get the rope) and to the teacher also. Buy dried hearts from the apothecary if you are running low. Then proceed to the captain's quarters with his dinner and you will be let in.
Talk to him and then kill him, in order to appropriate his key.
Fight your way to the well, use the rope and go down. Now all you have to do is to solve some nice little puzzles (just walk into the red switches, hitting them with the right shoulder, and note what they do), find Equitus and free him. A piece of cake.
