List of Entities
This directory of godforms is by no means complete, but it's a start, and it is growing. Further information is welcome, including any omissions (and I know there are thousands of those), personal god-forms that you want to put into the public domain, rituals involving
god-forms, links, and further infomation on the enties herein.
Where god-forms go by several names they usually appear under a single entry, although I'm working on getting this thing properly cross-referenced. For the moment, if you are looking for, for example, Hermes and can't find an entry under H, then check for Mercury.
This flie is now too large for me to leave it as a single block of text, so I have inserted internal links
to alphabetical sections of the text. I also intend to create a version indexed by pantheon in the near future.
I'm constantly updating, so check back every so often. Thanks to Arawyn ConThanatos for compiling additional infomation, to Vella for contributing to and inspiring the Necronomicon Mythos entries, and to everyone else I plagarised information from. :-)

Apsu - Babylonian god, the underworld ocean, masculine. The begetter of the skies and the earth. The father of Lahmus, Lahamu, Anshar and Kishar. He could not quell the noise of them or their children. He colluded with his vizier Mummu to silence the gods and allow Tiamat to rest, after Tiamat rejected the idea. Ea found out about his plans, cast a sleeping spell on him and killed him.
Aradia - Itailian goddess. Queen of the Witches, said to be the daugher of Diana in modern Stregheria. There are historical indications of her being a version of the Mesopotamian goddess, and later demoness, Lilith.
Aosoth - Dark female force in the pantheon of the Order of the Nine Angles. Works of passion and death. The name should be vibrated.
Atazoth - The most powerful of the Dark Gods in the pantheon of the Order of the Nine Angles. The name itself (which correctly describes the entity only when chanted properly) signifies in one sense the purpose of the cosmic cycies and the opening of the Gates since 'Atazoth' as a word means 'an increasing of azoth,' See chant illustration (not scanned here).

Word of power (Kthunase) to be vibrated to bring forth this entity.
Azanigin - Mother of all demons who lie waiting in Earth in the pantheon of the Order of the Nine Angles. Key of B minor, Very useful to invoke in works of personal destruction.
Anshar - Babylonian god, 'whole sky' He is the father of Anu and the child of Tiamat and Apsu. He is often paired with Kishar, and his qualities were assimilated with Ashur. When Ea learned of Tiamat's planned war, Anshar tried to stir him into attacking her first, but was rebuffed. He turned to Anu and sent him on a peace mission to Tiamat, but Anu returned unsuccessful. An assembly was convened and Marduk came forth at Ea's urging, promising to deliver Tiamat's defeated body to Anshar's feet.
He required of the assembly a promise that he would be given the leadership of the pantheon after he is victorious. He had Kappa gather Lahmu, Lahamu, and the other gods together to send off Marduk on his
fight and rally them to his side. When they arrive they help find a princely shrine for Marduk.
Aries/Mars - Greco-Roman god of war.
Artemis/Diana - Greco-Roman goddess of the of the wild wood, archery, the crescent moon and the Virgin aspect. She is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She represents female freedom and wildness. Artemis, like Hecate, hunted with a pack of Greyhounds.
She was honoured as the Lady of the Beasts, roaming the forest with her band of nymphs, protecting pregnant beasts and their young. The Greeks assimilated her to a mistress of wild beasts. Bears were sacred to her, and the guinea-fowl were her birds. She was a protector of youth, especially of girls, and was called upon as Artemis Eileithyia by women in childbirth. She is often depicted with a hound, and carrying a bow and arrows. She has no permanent consort.
Her tarot associations include nines, the High Priestess, and Temperance. Her gemstones are quartz, moonstone, pearl, and crystal. Sacred to her are the herbs mandrake, damiana, almond, mugwort, and hazel. Her animals are the horse, dog, elephant, and centaur. Other associations of Artemis are magickal weapons, perfumes, sandals, bow and arrow, and menstrual blood.
Diana is the most common name associated with the Strega, the Italian witches by certain modern authors on the subject (primarily one Raven Grimassi). It is claimed that in Stregheria, Diana is the goddess of the poor and oppressed, of outcasts and all those who are rejected by Society. Diana is a moon goddess and is viewed as the chaste maiden aspect of feminine divinity. She is the huntress, and the Amazon warrior. It has been alleged that during the middle ages in Italy, there flourished a tradition of witches devoted exclusively to Diana, whoviewed her as the only goddess, and acknowledged three aspects within her; maiden, mother, and crone. In each aspect they pronounced her name differently in order to evoke a separate aspect:
Maiden- Die-anna
Mother -Dee-ah-nah
Crone -Dea-nah.
This interpretation of Shtregheria practices is rather wiccanised, thus it's authenticity and accuracy is dubious.
The Romans invoked Diana to protect the harvest against heavy storms. Diana, whose name means "light", was originally the Italian Goddess of the Sun, Moon, and Open Sky. She also bestowed sovereignty and conception. Christians adopted her as St. Anne, Mary's mother, the "Grandmother of God".
Angerona - Roman goddess of secrecy
Ambriel - The angel of May.
Assiel - Angel of healing.
Até - (Greco-Roman Goddess) herald of disasters on the horizon, the personification of the powers leading to disaster and ruin. Also the goddess of infatuation.
Aphrodite/Venus - Greco/Roman goddess of love compassion and beauty. Born of the sea Aphrodite is also the calmer of waters. Patroness of lovers and sailors, also patron goddess of the island of Cyprus where she sprung from a giant clam.
Amprodias - qliphotic guardian of the 11th Tunnel, sometimes connected to Nyarlathotep. Regarded as a distortion of The Fool. Instead of being about to walk off the edge of a cliff, here he's seated at the bottom of a crater, at the edge of a pit, whence issue inane bubbles of nothingness. Instead of his warning dog, here we see the idiot flute-playing demons seeking not to advise, but to distract and confuse. Worst of all, the Fool is beyond mere "Folly", because as anyone can plainly see, he has no head at all.
His disease is diarrhea. His path is that of reversal. Since 11 is the general number for magic and
since 11 is also the number of Daath on the Tree of Life, i.e. the "non-existent" sephirah and the
gateway to the "other side", Amprodias also has The Fool's number. Zero (the Void) is the number
that precedes One (Manifestation). The Zeroeth Level is also the level that precedes even the must
elementary level of consensual reality. That is it even precedes solipsism and madness.
Angakok/Angakut - Amongst the Innuit there are two Gods, a God of Good and a God of Evil. The good God, Pirksama, is given scant attention, since good takes care of itself, whereas the evil God must be dealt with. His name is Angakok and all witch doctors are named after him. When, therefore, Angakok
comes to visit, he frequently meets with criticism, even when he comes to help the community. The Angakok derive their power to hear and restore life from the polar bear.
Asmodeus - Hebrew devil of sensuality and luxury, originally 'creature of judgement'.
Asmoday - A king of hell according to the Key of Solomon. He can grant invincibility.
Astaroth - Phonecian goddess of laviciouness, equivalent of Babylonian Ishtar. Said by many christian scholars of magick to obtain friendship of great lords.
Athene/Athena /Minerva - Goddess of wisdom, patron of the city of Athens. Had an Owl as a companion.
Auriel - Judeo-Christian archangel associated with Devotion and Compassion.
Atum - Egyptian creation deity worshipped at Heliopolis, who first emerged from primal chaos as a serpent. He was sometimes identified with the Hebrew "Adam", and was often depicted as masturbating,
since he is self-created and as he is also credited with pulling the whole of creation out of himself (precursor of Adam's rib?). He also represents the return of the Cosmos to its origins, as the serpent
devouring its own tail. By masturbating in Heliopolis, his brother and sister, Shu and Tefnut, were
produced by ejaculation. Sometimes he was described as "spitting forth" life from his mouth, as
though he himself were one entire penis.
Athtar - One of the Arab Trinity, the male Venus, destroyed by Mohammed.
Anteros - Strega god of passion
Astrea - Strega goddess of justice
Athushir - Symbolic form along the Order of the Nine Angles' l6th path. Serpent of fire ('dragon') often regarded as a memory of one of the Dark Gods during their previous (and only partially successful) intrusion into our causal universe. Word of power (Kthunase) to be vibrated to bring forth this entity.
Awar - Son of Iblis. Arab demon of laziness.
Azathoth - The blind idiot-god of Lovecraft's Cthulth mythos, Azathoth rules all time and space from a black throne at the center of Chaos.
Sigil of Azathoth by Vella
Azazel - (Hebrew) taught humanity to make weapons of war and introduced cosmetics. He was said to be the "Strength of God". The Angel who refused to worship Adam, renamed "Iblis", the Arab demon.
Aaron paid equal tribute to Azazel and Jehovah.
B
Baalberith - Caanite Lord of the covenant who was later demonised.
Baba-ji - an astral Guru, the teacher of Yogananda's Guru. He is seen fairly frequently in India from
time to time. His name actually means Beloved Baby, or close enough. Baba-ji may have had a
material incarnation at one time, although I doubt it. He likes to appear as a 17 year old with very
long black hair. He could be mistaken for white, but probably not by anyone who knows Indians.
He's relatively easy to contact through the following visualization:
Close your eyes.
Imagine that you are in the Himalayas. In winter. You are not cold. Before you a staircase hewn
from stone and strangely free of snow, passes down the mountain. You walk down the staircase,
and as you do so put yourself into a hypnotic trance. When you reach the end of the staircase you
will come to a golden door set in the side of a cliff. Push open the door and walk into the cave. The
cave is warm, lit by candles, with statues of many Indian Gods flickering in alcoves in the walls.
Look around the room. Towards the far end you will find Baba-ji, sitting in lotus, levitating about 3
feet off the ground. Greet him respectfully and he'll engage you in conversation. When you're
finished, leave by the same route, becoming more alert, refreshed, calm, and at ease as you near the
top of the stairs. Open your eyes.
Embellish the induction as much as you need to achieve contact.
You can find a picture of Baba-ji in The Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda.
I've chatted with him for years. He's quite affable.
(this material quoted from Marik)
Babalon - Crowley's numerologically-derived spelling. Another name for the Scarlet Woman, regarded by some to be a terms meaning a fire elemental. The great whore, there are several goddesses who are regarded as possible identities for her, including Astarte and Lilith.
Balaam - Hebrew devil of avarice and greed. According to the Key of Solomon he is a King of hell, able to grant invisibility and inspiration.
Balchipushti - Literally, Lord of the Cockroaches. King of the Jebusites.
Bau - ancient Sumerian goddess with the head of a dog. The Egyptian cult of Anubis, far older than that
of Osiris, can be traced to Bau. Anubis himself, written in early heiroglyphs as 'An-pu', may be a direct continuation of Bau's father, the Sumerian god An.
Bael - A great king, according to the Key of Solomon, who teaches invisibility. Bael reigns over 66 legions of demons. He's supposed to appear as a cat, a toad or a human.
Baphomet - generally associated with satanism and dark magic. Said to have been worshipped by the Knights Templar. Sometimes regarded as a corruption of the word Mohammed. Baphomet is usually depicted as containing all elements; male, female, fish, bird, reptile, and mammal. Baphomet is regarded by some to be identical to the goat of Mendes. Many Sinister Path groups such as the Order of the Nine Angles regard Baphomet as being female as opposed to hermaphrodite.
It is also the God of the Sabbath of Sorcerers. Its obvious association with Mohamet is possibly the result of unexamined Islam. Its also a symbol of Gnosticism. The Knights Templars (1118-1300) were involved with Gnosticism, Cathars, Albigensians, Manichaeans, and many other groups.
Since the Tarot appears in the 14th Century and since it bears some indications of Muslim origin
(primarily the word, Al-Tariqa, or the way) and the Naipes of Spain (Arabic nabi, prophet), then
perhaps Baphomet was supposed to be Mohammed. Crowley's Devil Baphomet certainly is
alchemical, phallic and capric enough (with a 3rd eye).
Lévi: "To know how to extract from all matter the pure salt concealed therein is to possess the secret
of the Stone that the Qabalists gave to their Mercury, the personification of Hermanubis and to
Sulfur, the Templars' Baphomet." The name can also be given backwards: TEM OPH AB,
Templum Omnium Hominum Pacis Abbas.
Satan, in an important sense, has no existence. He's perennially invented by a perverse will again and
again, strictly for evil purposes. All inferior magicians worship the devil. The Devil, says Crowley, is
created by the Black Brothers to imply a unity in their ignorant muddle of dispersions. A devil who
had unity would be a God.
Baphomet has his own tetramorph: Dog, Bull, Ass and Goat, representing perversions of the
cardinal signs.

Baratchial - Quabbalistic guardian of the 12th tunnel. The ape-headed or cynocephalous distortion of The Magician. Baratchial does not carry a caduceus, but instead struggles, with great difficulty, to control the
writhing serpents. Since he is fork-tongued, Baratchial's affliction is impediments of speech and his
magic is the Gift of Tongues.
Bast/Bastet - Egyptian goddess originally represented as a wild jungle cat. Bast's earliest role was as the protector and avenger of the Pharoah. The popular image of Bast appearing with the head of a cat, or as a house cat, did not even appear until approximately 1000 BCE, after the Greeks had invaded. After the Greek invasion she was relegated to being a goddess of pleasure (as opposed to the primal wild sensuality of her earlier form) and a patron of marriage and childbirth. The Greeks considered her to be equivalent of Demeter.
She was also known as a Goddess of warmth and beneficial aspects of the sun's heat. In modern times she holds many roles, which include reverence to her as a protector of animals (especially cats) and of familiars.
In her earliest form she was very similar to Sekhmet, who she was later merged with in some parts of Egypt. Her name means "to tear apart". Appearing as a lioness, she is said to be the mother of the lion god Maahes, by the god Ra. She has also been referred to as the 'eye of Re' and coupled with Tefnu. In Memphitic tradition she was apparently siad to be the mother of Anubis.
Her feast day was celebrated with processions, music, dance, a trade fair, and orgies. The centre of Bast worship in Egypt was Bubastis (a name by which she herself was referred on occasion) and her priestesses are said to have dressed in red. Her worship was also common in Memphis.
She has been associated with hunting, music, dance, animals, and fire. Her correspondences include the planet Venus, the Strength tarot card, the symbols of a box or a basket, the gems obsidian, citrine, cat's eye and tiger's eye. Her incenses are acacia, frankincense, myrrh, catnip, cedar, cinnamon, and juniper.

Bendis - an early Greek Moon Goddess and wife of the Sun God Sabazius, and was worshipped with orgiastic rites. Thracians made her popular in Attica, and in 430 BCE her cult became a state ceremonial in Athens, with torch races at the Piraeus.
Budsturga - A blue, aetherial entity related to Order of the Nine Angles' l3th path. Tradition relates it as a Dark God, of female aspect, trapped in the vortex between the causal and acausal spaces, In one sense represents hidden wisdom - but generally dangerous to sanity, Partially manifest when Nemicu vibrated.
Belisama - Celtic goddess of light and fire.
Befana - In popular belief in north Italy, a female demon of midwinter. She brings presents - but also has a vicious streak in which she appears as a ghost. The name Befana (or Befania) comes from Epiphany, the Christian feast of the Magi, which takes place on January 6.
Blaef - A Friday angel of the air and subject to the west wind.
Bellona - Roman goddess of war, popular among the Roman soldiers. She accompanied Mars in battle,
and, depending on the legend, was said to be either his wife, sister or daughter, and was sometimes portrayed as his charioteer or muse. This serpent-haired goddess is often described as the feminine side of the god Mars. She is identified with the Greek war goddess Enyo. In front of Bellona's temple, the fetialis (priestly officials) performed the declaration of war ceremony, the casting of a spear against the distant enemy. Bellona's attribute is a sword and she is depicted wearing a helmet. She could be of Etruscan origin.
Beleth - Appears in the Key of Solomon, and related Goetic documents. He has been described as taking the form of "a terrible and mighty king, riding on a pale horse, preceded by all manners of musicians". These "musicians" Beleth's retainers have been known to appear visibly during dealings with him in the form of of sparkling lights surrounding the Triangle of Manifestation.
Waite found Beleh to be "very furious when first summoned, and [he] must be commanded into a triangle or circle with a hazel wand of the magician pointed to the South-East. He must be received courteously and with homage, but a silver ring must be worn on the middle finger of the left hand, which must be held against the face. He procures love between man and woman and is of the Oracle of the Powers."
Despite the dire warnings of Beleth's ferocity issued by both Waite and Idres Shah, several magicians of my aquaintace have found him to be an amicable being, seemingly amused by the concept of humans wanting to deal with him.
Blodeuwedd - An aspect of the triple goddess of Celtic mythology the maiden takes form of owl.
Baron Samedi - (Baron Sanmdi, Samedi) Loa of the dead and the cemetery, of the family of Guedé.
His aspects include: Baron Cimetière or Maître Cimetière (aspect of Samedi that is loa of the cemetery), Baron La Croix or La Croix (aspect of Samedi that is loa of the cross).
Bob - (a.k.a. J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, Jahr Dobbs, the SlackMaster) Living Master of Slack, High Epot of the Church of the SubGenius, and the Luckiest Man Alive.
A salesman born in the 1920's in the midwestern United States to Jane McBride Dobbs and the Mayan Xiucha-Chi-Xan M. Dobbs (although rumor has it that a Polish-Jewish milkman servant of Jehova-1 was his actual father), "Bob" was the oldest of three sons (his younger brothers being named "Rod" Dobbs and Judas J. "Jim" Dobbs). "Bob" was chosen shortly before World War II to be Jehovah-1's primary agent on Earth.
Under JHVH's guidance, "Bob" founded The Church of the SubGenius in 1953 to round-up the disorganized SubGenii on the planet into a unified body in preparation for the arrival of the Xists in 1998. In 1955, "Bob" married his "Primary Wife", Connie, who later bore him five sons (Bubba, "Bobby" Jr., Adam Kadmon, Shemp, and Shaun) and a daughter, Barbie Garbs Dobbs (although "Bob" now as at least one "Secondary Family" in every state of the union and 2,2952 "Tertiary Families" spread evenly throughout the world.) Although "Bob" was apparently shot and killed in 1984 (and several times after that), he has escaped from Hell so many times that he is now banned from Hell, as well as Heaven, due to his lack of baptism, so that he is now forever among the livng undead.
According to followers of "Bob", the Rupture, when all fee-paying Subgenii will transported instantly upon gigantic and wonderous space craft, and those who have not payed their fees will remain to tormet and torture unbelievers, will occur on the 4th and 5th of July 1998. So remember to get your cheques in before that date.

Boli Shah - A family of loa.
Bitch Goddess - in antiquity she was known in all the Indo European cultures, beginning with the Great Bitch Sarama who led the Vedic dogs of death. Goddess of the Sacred Flame of Kildare. Goddess of poets, feminine crafts, the hearth, martial arts, healing and inspiration. The White Maiden aspect of the Triple Goddess. Her Feast is the Major Celtic Festival of Imbolc. She who gives hope and new beginnings. The Celtic Church could not replace her, so they absorbed her as the "foster-mother" of Christ and as St. Brigit, the daughter of the Druid Dougal the Brown. Brigid is very like the Greek Goddess Athena. Direction: North-east, East or South.
Beelzebub - Literally, "Lord of the Flies", that is, the Canaanite demon ruling over corruption, filth and death. Originally he was a God worshipped in temples free of flies. However the derivation of his name from 'baal-zebub', i.e. lord of the flies, is not proven. Some scholars regard it as being more probable that the name means 'Baal the prince', thus corresponding to the Phoenician concept of the god.
In terms of Christian magick, Beelzebub was one of the names given to the prince of all demons in his guise as Lord of the Flies. The Greek demonologist Psellus says that the Hebrew Beelzebul (God of Heaven) was converted (as a playful corruption) into Beelzebub (God of the Dunghill), and the imaqe of this demons as a monstrous fly is derived from this notion of the dunghill, where flies proliferate. Some scholars say that Beelzebub was the equivalent of the Baal worshipped in Palestine and adjacent countries, and in the later times a representative of the fallen gods. In Matthew, 12, 24 he is mentioned as "prince of the devils" and this appelation has stuck; for example Milton has him "next in crime" to Satan. (Paradice Lost, Book 1) The most striking image of Beelezbub is that of a huge fly given by Collin de Plancy, in which the wings are emblazoned with the death's head.
In the personal and historically unsound demonology of Barrett, Beelzebub becomes the prince of false gods. In the Michaelis Hierarchy Beelezbub is listed as the leader of sixteen demons, a fallen prince of Seraphim, and next unto Lucifer'; being the tempter through pride, his spiritual adversary is St. Francis.
Beng - A romany name for the devil. He often combats god in a trial of strength, but is always beaten. He is said to dwell in the woods and to prefer to go about his shady business by night.
Behemoth - Said by christian magickal scholars to be the demon of indulgence
Belphagor - (Lit. Corpse-Lord or Decay.) The demon (female or gynander?) of inventions and discoveries. In Punic myth, Bel or Baal (Lord) is nearly equal to El, god of fertility and plant life (winter flood). Necrophilia with slain virgins, practiced by Atlantidean sorcerers and Asiatic secret societies alike, is also reflected in this name. Beings created by orgasm or Todpunkt all become zombies to Death
Magick practitioners.
Bendis - virginal, arms-bearing goddess of the Thracians; equated by the Greeks with Artemis, sometimes with Hekate. Her cult was introduced into Athens in the time of Pericles.
Belial - (Hebrew) adversary, opposite, accuser, Lord of fire the inferno, the south. According to the Key of Solomon, Belial can grant one the support of friends and strangers.
Boojum - (aka Boojum-Under-The-Rock) is the One True God(tm), all other gods are utterly false, and all other religions are crap.
Followers of the One True Way(tm) - known variously as Boojumites, Boojumists, Boojutics, or by many other names - believe that the World (As We Know It) was created in 1934 (on April 1st at 9am, to be exact) when Boojum "uurped wisely in the slime" to create the first "humorans" (humans). Previously the world had been chiefly inhabited by Trolls, whom Boojum banished beneath the Earth. One day, probably in the future, Earth's surface will crack and the Trolls will pour out to again take over the world, an event called the Great Rupture. At that time, all people who have not "found Boojum" will become eternal Troll slaves, and made to wear leisure suits, drink American beer, and suffer other horrors too foul to contemplate.
Meanwhile, there are signs and portents. Chief among these is the flamingo, especially the pink plastic lawn flamingo, which is a symbol of Boojumite Sainthood. Who is a Boojumite Saint? Golly, who isn't? This great honor has been bestowed on many people, whose gratitude is best expressed in this quote from St. DogMeat, "Thanks for the gum ball, Mickey!" There are also Mega-Saints, who are akin to 33rd Degree Masons in that they hold all the Keys to Knowledge and Secretly Control the World!
Many famous religious leaders, over the course of history, have seen the light and been converted to The Truth of Boojum(tm). Usually, this revelation prompts them to write a book repudiating their previous beliefs - and tragically, the book's publication usually prompts the convertee's former followers to murder the convertee, to prevent the total collapse of what had been to that time a major religion. Many of these (in)famous books share similar titles, such as: TAO IS CRAP by Lao Tze; BUDDHISM IS CRAP by Siddhartha Guatama; ISLAM IS CRAP by Mohammed; THELEMA IS CRAP, by Aleister Crowley; ATHEISM IS CRAP By Madeline Murray O'Hare; and most recently, SATANISM IS CRAP by Anton LaVey, who was tragically "bumped off" earlier this year (by the use of a subtle poison which induced a "heart attack"). There is even rumored to be a volume entitled BOOJUMISM IS CRAP, but its existence has not been verified (though rest assured, if it does exist, its author will be "dealt with" in the usual manner!).
The Holy Book of Boojumism, known as the Booble, has never been completely written down, but instead is accessed extemporaneously by channelling Boojum. Thus it is ever-changing, seemingly at the whim of the individual, but eternally the Word of Boojum Himself. There are those among the unbelievers - probably
Trollist Agents! - who claim that Boojumites "make it up as they go along" and in fact that the entire religion is nothing but an offshoot of Discordianism, and an inane parody of every other religion... but these poor fools are short-sighted indeed, to limit their accusations in such a manner, for in Truth(tm), Boojumites make fun of EVERYTHING. And yet, at the core, there is an essence of... solidity. Boojum is real! Boojumism "works if you work it" (as the saying goes).

When she discovered that Gwion had tasted of her cauldron, she chased him through a variety of mutual shape changes until at last she caught and consumed him as a grain of wheat. This caused her to give birth to Taliesin. Direction: West or South.
Chamiel - Judeo-Christian archangel associated with Love and Tolerance
Chernobog - The old, Pre-Vladimir Slavic black demon (lit. "Black God") of the Varlagi Russians, represented by a black dog. The similarity of the name of this demon with Chernobyl, the nuclear power plant disaster of 1987, caused great distress amongst the Russian people. Premier Gorbachev's forehead birthmark did not help to allay slavic uneasiness, since it was read as the Apocalyptic "mark of the beast."
Choronzon - demon of dispersion, guardian of the Abyss or the 10th aether, Noznoroch - 333. He is said to be the abyss and everything in it.
Another interpretation of him is as the personification of the hypertrofied ego, and as a force of anti-magick. Rumored by various people to be (a) insane and (b) a great threat. In my view, Choronzon's attidude is dependant upon the manner in which he is approached.
Choronzon can appear as male, female, both, or neither. Its female form is occasionally referred to as Xaronzon. He has been known to appear as a black snake, fox, or jackal. Contrary to the 'Simon' Necronomicon, Pazuzu and Choronzon should not be regarded as aspects of the same being. Choronzon's prescense during ritual is noticable by the very atmosphere in the area. Choronzon is associated with the planet Uranus.
The Biblical 'Legion' has been regarded by some magicians to be Choronzon, as has the entity that apparently terrified John Dee and Edward Kelly into ending their magickal work. Crowley called Choronzon the "first and deadliest of all the powers of evil", sole inhabitant of the Abyss, capable of assuming any shape, existing in infinite forms redering it near-ominpresent, the very Lord of Chaos.
In 1909 Crowley and his associate Victor Neuburg did encounted him (it) on a mountaintop in Algiers, thus making Neuburg a "secret chief" (see Liber XXX Aerum, The Vision and the Voice). There are those who claim that Crowley never acually break free of Choronzon's influence. Choronzon's (now much used) key to other planes if is "Zazas, Zazas, Nasatana, Zazas!" (also Zazas Zazas Nasatanata Zazas and many other varients).
Peter J. Carroll and many chaos magicians consider Choronzon to be an embodyment of all the psychic crap that is floating around the aether. Magicians who have more amicable experiences with Choronzon have reported him to be helpful and friendly, although posessing a rather bizarre sense of humour. Choronzon has also apparently caused insanity and injury to many who attempt to work with him under the wrong circumstances. If you want a decent working, Choronzon is not to be approached in a hostile manner (e.g. that of 'conquering the Abyss'), and may on occasion be irritated by binding rituals (although it has also been reported to have found them amusing).
On the Quabbalistic Tree of like (primarily the Thelemic version, I should note), the abyss is Da'ath, the false tenth sephrioth, and Choronzon dwells therein. The conquest of the abyss, and of Choronzon, is said to be the conquest of the ego and of that which prevents a magician from reaching enlightenment. Of course, there are always those of us who would rather work with the ego than against it. These are referred to by Thelemites as the 'Black Brothers', as are those who worship Choronzon as the guardian of the portal between worlds.
Probably the most popular working involving Choronzon is Peter J. Carroll's 'Mass of Choronzon'. This calls upon it to grant a random desire of the magician's subconcious. Other workings with the entity (as opposed to workings to pass through the abyss and confront Choronzon), can include invocation and pact workings.
Chicomecoatl - an Aztec Earth Goddess, Chicomecoatl was invoked as Mother of the Red Chilies, and was seen wearing a necklace of chilies. She was a goddess of all the produce of the earth. Her name comes from the 20 day calender of Mesoamerica and means "Seven Serpent".

Her adoring father, King Gradion (or Gradlon), of Cornwall built the city of Ker-Ys ("city of depth") off the coast of Brittany for her so she could escape the persecutions of the monks who had declared her a witch because her violent opposition to their Christianization of her Kingdom. Modern legends tell that her city was swept away by a wave caused by an intervening Christian saint. Pagan stories tell how she asked a city of Korrigans, the Breton sea faeries, to disguise her city until it was safe again for them to emerge again, without risk of persecution - off-hand, she'll have a long wait.
Dahud was dubbed a Goddess of debauchery by her detractors, and some more recent legends go so far as to make her the destroyer of her own realm through her own excesses and her purported worship of idols. Some patriarchal legends say her father, recognizing her as evil, either escaped her world or drowned her.
Her followers regard her as a Goddess of earthly pleasure. Many neo-pagans ivew her as "a mother Goddess cradling the reborn infant of the Old Religion and as a rebel against patriarchy and its new rules". Breton fisherman claim to occasionally see her city beneath the French seas and believe that she will indeed return someday.
In magick and ritual Dauhud can teach us to have responsible pleasure without guilt. She may be called upon for strength in the face of persecution. Summon her presence to aid with water magick, sex magick, or workings with sea faeriest. She is associated with shells and primroses.

Eris - Greco-Roman goddess of Discord and Chaos adopted in the 20th cent. by the Discordians. She was the personification of strife. Known to the Romans as Discordia, she was a sister of Mars and belonged to the retinue of Mars and Bellona. She is said to have a son known as Strife.
In Greco-Roman mythology she was variously blamed for strife, deceit, contention, murder, wars, disputation, and rivalry.
She has been associated with the Fool and Tower tarot cards (representing both her trickster and her destructive aspects).
She is most commonly known by the part she played in:
THE MYTH OF THE APPLE OF DISCORD
(this version extracted from the Principia Discordia - it's more or less true to most versions of the myth except for the bit about hot dogs. And about Paris being French. But what do historians know anyway?)
Zeus was preparing a wedding banquet for Peleus and Thetis and did not want to invite Eris because of Her reputation as a trouble maker. This made Eris angry, and so She fashioned an apple of pure gold and inscribed upon it KALLISTI ("To The Prettiest One") and on the day of the fete She rolled it into the banquet hall and then left to be alone and joyously partake of a hot dog.
Now, three of the invited goddesses, Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite, each immediately claimed it
to belong to herself because of the inscription. And they started fighting, and they started throwing
punch all over the place and everything.
Finally Zeus calmed things down and declared that an arbitrator must be selected, which was a
reasonable suggestion, and all agreed. He sent them to a shepherd of Troy, whose name was Paris
because his mother had had a lot of gaul and had married a Frenchman; but each of the sneaky
goddesses tried to outwit the others by going early and offering a bribe to Paris.
Athena offered him Heroic War Victories, Hera offered him Great Wealth, and Aphrodite offered
him the Most Beautiful Woman on Earth. Being a healthy young Trojan lad, Paris promptly accepted
Aphrodite's bribe and she got the apple and he got screwed.
As she had promised, she maneuvered earthly happenings so that Paris could have Helen (the
Helen) then living with her husband Menelaus, King of Sparta. Anyway, everyone knows that the
Trojan War followed when Sparta demanded their Queen back and that the Trojan War is said to
be The First War among men.
And so we suffer because of the Original Snub. And so a Discordian is to partake of No Hot Dog
Buns.
Do you believe that?
Eros/Cupid - Greco-Roman god of love.
Eleggua - Loa in voodoo traditions relating to roads and opportunities. He is the messenger between human beings and the other orishas, holding a position in ways similar to that of Nyarlathotep in Lovecraftian magick. He is the first to be honored during any ceremony because without his approval, nothing can be accomplished. Also a healer and master magician, he can be extremely generous as well as cruel. In the Brazilian Candomble tradition he is associated with Satan. However, in the Yoruba tradition he is seen as a trickster rather than as a power of evil. His tricks are simply opportunities to learn lessons. In Santeria, Eleggua protects the home against dangers. Many santeros have an alter to him near to the front door, upon which offerings to him are made every Monday and on the third day of the month. His favorite gifts are candies, candles, toys, rum and cigars.
Epona - Celtic horse goddess, bearer of Cornucopia, the horn of plenty.
Ereshkigal (Allatu) - the supreme goddess of the underworld. Nergal is her consort. She is often considered Ishtar's sister. When angered, her face grows livid and her lips grow black. She doesn't know why Ishtar would visit her, but she allows her in, according to the ancient rites. She instructs Namtar to release his diseases upon Ishtar. When 'His appearance is bright' tries to get her to swear an oath, she curses him. She has Namtar release Ishtar in exchange for Dumuzi.
Anu sends Kakka to her with a message and then sends Nergal to give her a throne upon which she is to sit and give judgment. She offers Nergal food, drink, a foot bath, and entices him with her body. Eventually he succumbs and they sleep with each other for seven days. She is enraged when he wishes to leave. She sends Namtar to heaven to request that Anu, Ellil, and Ea send Nergal to her as one of the few favors she has ever had. If they do not, she will raise the dead and they will eat and outnumber the living. Nergal is brought back. In some versions of the myth, Nergal takes control of Namtar's attendant demons and grabs Ereshkigal by the hair. In this position she proposes marriage to him. In both versions they are married.
Euronymous - Greek prince of death.
Erzulie - (Ezili, Maîtresse Erzulie) Idealised figure of womanhood; loa of love and beauty. Her aspects include:

Elen - Celtic Goddess, also known as Elen of the Roads. Her story is in 'The Dream of Macsen Wledig', one of the stories of the Mabinogion. The Emporer Macsen has a dream of a fair maiden who lives in a far land. He follows the directions in his dream and comes to the hall in North Wales where Elen and her family live and makes her his Empress. She claims the Island of Britain from her father as her wedding gift, and supervises the building of roads throughout the realm. The Roman road that runs between North and South Wales is called Sarn Helen - Elen's Causeway.
It is generally thought that this tale has its origins in an earlier legend that became mixed up with an historical tale of Roman occupation, and that Elen is actually an older figure who presides over the dream-pathways, who became associated with a road-building Empress. There is a painting by Chesca Potter of Elen with an antlered deer's head called The Lady of the Ways.
Elzafinagle - a little-known and somewhat obscure Discordian saint revered by peasants and
country folk in rural Ireland during the eigth and ninth centuries. Like many Irish saints, Elzafinagle
was not actually from Ireland but was brought to Ireland from afar by traders. She was later found at the age of seven by the Holy Reverend Sisters of the Blessed Scabrous Blotch of Saint Francis, who cleaned her up a bit and raised her to be a nun.
Elzafinagle would have none of this, however. First off, she wasn't chaste. She had the gardening
boy at sixteen, and by the time she was eighteen, she'd had trysts with five other men (two were
priests), and at least two of the Holy Sisters. There wasn't a hell of a lot to do in the dark ages you
see... the poor girl was bored.
Anyway, aside from Elzafinagle's lack of chastity, she showed a disturbing lack of piety. During
Vespers, she was notorious for nodding off and snoring. At morning prayer, she would come in with
tangled hair and complain loudly about the cold water at the pump (and coffee hadn't been invented
yet, so you can't blame her). And when the Holy Father from the parish church tried to get her to
confess her sins, more often than not she would call him a reisty old lech and throw him a turkey
curse (the invention of which she is sometimes credited).
As you might imagine, Elzafinagle was not long for the nunnery once she reached an age where she
could be reasonably expected to sort of take care of herself. Or, to be blunt, they threw her out on
her callipygian ass.
Elzafinagle took to the life of a mendicant hermit, visiting strange, wild places and talking to the
druids and (some say) the faeries. Honestly, the druids bored her incredibly ("You want me to play
around with human heads?!" she'd said, "Toss off!"), and the faeries were great for parties, but she
always had such horrible headaches in the morning that she dropped them as well.
Now one day, Elzafinagle was approaching a village, when she heard a wee voice say, "Elzafinagle!
Elzafinagle!"
She looked down and there was a little cockroach talking to her. She picked it up. "Give me one
reason why I shouldn't smash you," she said to the cockroach.
"Umm... I suppose if I get this wrong I'm really fucked?" the cockroach asked.
"Damn right," she said, raising her hand.
"Umm... Err... If you smash me you won't hear the really important message I have for you?"
"Out with it," she said.
"Right... *ahem*... Eris Discordia says, 'Hiya,' and would like you to know that she's chosen you for
sainthood. You are now promoted from pope to official saint, with all benefits there accruing,
including a holy day, which you get to pick."
"What's today?"
"January 5."
"Fine. Now fuck off." And with that, the cockroach scampered away.
One couldn't exactly say that Elzafinagle used her sainthood wisely and entirely to the benefit of
humankind, but then one can't say that about very many Discordian saints (with the possible
exception of the apocryphal Chicken Boo). She did get a lot of free food out of it, however.
It also couldn't really be said that Elzafinagle gained a hell of a lot of converts to Discordia. One
noted failure in a long, long string thereof was her mission to England. However, after her mission to Norway, where the ancestors of the Net.Vikings introduced her to a gloppy, snot-like hallucinogenic mushroom potion they referred to rather indelicately as "Valkyrie Smeg," Elzafinagle had considerably greater success in winning converts.
Sadly, Elzafinagle was accidentally martyred in what is now Germany in the year 623 when she tried
to convince the great Gothic chieftain, Oleg Braineater, that his men should all wear yellow feather
boas into battle against the Vandals. Unfortunately, Oleg had drunk a little too much mead (plus a
little Valkyrie Smeg), and he thought Elzafinagle was requesting that he dance in a yellow feather
boa. He complied. Unfortunately, the traditional dance performed by the Goths (no, not the
white-faced people, the German barbarians, silly!) at the time involved a Really Big Axe that was
whirled about the body. With the feather boa partially obscuring his vision, Oleg accidentally swung
the axe a bit too wide, and Elzafinagle was martyred in the name of our Lady of Chaos Eris
Discordia.
Elzafinagle is revered by the Net.Vikings, the Discordians, and a large clan of brown squirrels in
Westchester County, New York. She is the patron saint of hallucinogens, mashed potatoes, and recovering Catholics. Her color is green, and her odor is sod. She is rumored to taste like chicken. Her holy day is January 5. 'Cause she chose it.
Full information on Elzafinagle is available at: http://www.crl.com/~tzimon/elzafina.html

Gabriel - Judeo-Christian archangel associated with Purity and Resurrection.
Ganesha - Hindu elephant-headed God of Wisdom and Literature, who is invoked at the beginnings of all

the line of duty or through no fault of their own. His original head was severed because he once
barred the door of his mother's (Parvati's) bath from his father (Siva). His mother replaced it with the
elephant's head, as the first thing she could find. He then lost a tusk trying to prevent Rama from
disturbing Shiva's sleep. The elephant's head enables him to overcome every obstacle in his path. He
also rides on the back of a mouse attribute (or familiar), which grants him access to small places.
Gargophias - In the Quabbla, the 13th guardian of the dark Tarot. A parallel of the High Priestess. Grant calls it batrachian witchcraft, Hecate's, the goddess Frog-Head. Had - See Set.
Hadit - Chaldean version of Set, according to Grant, and the divine seed of manifestation (the divine
spermatozoon or serpent). As Nuit, according to Crowley, is "infinite space," so Hadit is the infinitely
small or atomic center. By extension, Hadit is the equivalent of Lucifer, who is his own Holy
Guardian Angel and the "seed" of our hell-world. Hadit can also be the manifestation of Nuit, as the
child, Horus, is the manifestation of the Mother. The Isis-Horus connection to Xtian madonna and
child, after all, is well established.
Harpo - Discordian Saint. The feast of Saint Harpo takes place on the 23rd of May. St. Harpo started out on this way to Discordian sainthood by being born on the 23rd day of the 5th month and so was twice loved by Eris. Saint Harpo first manifested on this plane as part of an act known as the Marx Brothers.
His first miracle was in being the first person to be Harpo, his second was in up-staging Groucho without speaking, his third was his films which contain deep mystic secrets of Discordiam hidden from the great washed & deoderized, his forth was the invention of the gooky face, his fifth was his making a living
playing a harp. Patron saint of the 20th Century Harpo is the closest thing to a consort for Eris that has ever been found, he is prayed to for aid in overcoming the pompous when they are trying to cramp your style. and to send Chaos to the followers of Grayface, the secret Lord of normals.

As queen of the dead Hecate is the embodiment of destruction, and also descruction as a regenerative force. She hunts by night with her pack of ghostly greyhounds and is the patroness of witches. Despite being generally portrayed as a dark goddess she has a fairly neutral outlook and will aid any who pay her respects so is also called upon by 'white' witches and magicians.
She has been associated with dogs, horses and snakes. She has been interpreted as an incarnation of Hecuba of Troy misinterpreted as goddess of witchcraft and evil. She rescued Persephone from the underworld, and it is said that she can be seen under the dark moon, which is the best time in which to perform workings involving her.
Her tarot associations are threes and the High Priestess. Her gemstones include star sapphire, pearl, moonstone, and crystal; her plants include cypress, opium poppy, almond, mugwort, hazel, and moonwort. Animals which are sacred to her are, obviously, dogs - greyhounds in particular. Other associations include the scents myrrh, civet, perfumes, and magickal weapons.

I
Ialdaboath - (also Yaldaboath; sometimes Samael) The Gnostic's Creator demiurge whos name means "born of chaos". He is little more than a demon, for the world is a creation of evil untouched by the true God, who dwells far away -- who, then, Jahweh is supposed to be is another question altogether, outside of context.
Imhotep - A famous Egyptian magician (equivalent of Asclepios), sometimes referred to as a "god". First

Her power has now grown to consciousness and she wishes to more directly influence those who would embrace her. Her form is that of a woman of about 35 years. She is calm and wise, above all forgiving if offered truthfulness, acknowledgment, and the yielding up of pain. She is dressed always in long comfortable grey robes and allows her light brown hair to flow freely. She is neither maid nor mother, beautiful nor ugly. She is a personal goddess in that conversation with her is usually encountered inwardly. She never provides divinitory advice or interpretation of the past. She is a goddess of the now. She has no enemies, merely those fools who would despise her. as a rule, the best way to call upon her is recognition of her followed by an offering. She can be very impatient with those who offer doubt. Beware of calling upon her without an offering as she can be stubborn about returning. This was part of an article from Tzimon's Tools of Chaos.

Lorelei - One of the most beautiful water spirits ever known, Lorelei was a German girl who was betrayed by her lover and so drowned herself. She can be seen sitting on the banks of the Rhine strumming a wistful song on her harp or combing her long golden hair, rather like South European Merfolk or Sirens. It is said that those who see her lose their minds, or their sight, or both, and others say that she lures sailors and fishermen to their dooms in revenge against her lover.
Her name has been used to describe a 'species' of European water spirit, and versions of her have turned up in several modern works of sci-fi and fantasy.
Losna - old Etruscan name for the Moon Goddess in mother form, which has been alleged to have been later adopted by the Strega. The Etruscans apparently also knew her as Tana and Leukothea. Losna was literally the moon itself, and the early Etruscans believed it to be a living goddess. Apparently Losna is the moon as a living entity, rather than a goddess of the moon. Leukothea was an aspect of the moon goddess associated with the ocean and the tides. Therefore, Leukothea is a goddess of the power of the moon, or the light of the moon (which, to the Etruscans, was the same thing)
The full moon is associated with Losna. Tana is the name used to denote the Great Goddess who encompasses all aspects. Therefore, Tana is the universal aspect of the Goddess. In early Etruscan times she was called Uni, which means "The One Goddess." This is an interpretation heavily tainted by Wiccan beliefs.
Lupercus - Strega god of agriculture, the Wolf God. As this again comes from sources heavily influenced by Wiccan, so within all probability there is a lot more to Lupercus than this association would indicate. There is evidence of an Etruscan ritual of sacrifice in which men dressed up as wolves, which may have been a fertility ritual in which Lupercus has his origins.
Lucifer
Lucifer is one of the many names given to "the Devil" (the Prince of Darkness) by Christianity. Lucifer means "light bearer" (sometimes "bringer of light" or "the dark"). Lucifer was originally an angel of light; however, he has been classified amoung medieval demons & devils because he "fell from grace" by rebelling against the Elohim.
In the theosophical tradition, he has been looked upon more kindly & is regarded as a personification
or archetype of the independent & self-conscious mind (which may desire to evolve through many lifetimes toward the "Light").
Satan means "the adversary (of God)" or "the enemy" & is also a name given to the Devil by Christians. BTW, the personification of evil is called Eblis in Islam, and Ahriman in Zoroastrianism.
It is interesting (to me) that the Devil is sometimes called "the god of this world".(posted by Sighris to the Z-list)
For the uninformed, Lucifer was the Roman equivalent of the greek Prometheus who was punished by Zeus (tortured) for stealing fire from mt. olympus to give to the dying race of humanity, who had fallen into
disgrace with Zeus (and was too much of a pussy to survive anyhow). He's one of the few origins of the Christian devil that can be traced back to its original source.
For excellent info/practical techniques on traditional devil "worship"/medieval black magick those interested would do well to get a copy of Christopher Hyatt/S. Jason Blacks' "Pacts With the Devil", put out by New Falcon.(posted by Dyonisus to the Z-list)

He replaces Nuada as the King and battle leader of the Tuatha de Dannan and leads them to ultimate victory in the second Battle of Moytura. He is sometimes called the "Shining One" and/or Lugh Lamhfada (of the "long arm"). He also has attributes of a carpenter, mason, poet,Druid, physician and a goldsmith. He can be considered the Irish God of just about everything. He was also the father of the great Irish hero, Cuchulain. Direction: East, South or South-west.

Her basket is full of flowers and medicinal mushrooms, and she wears her hair in a bun or down to her waist. She grows her nails unusually long, and it is thought (for some obscure reason which I do not understand) to be an indecribable pleasure to be scratched by her nails, but she will punish any who voice this thought with her invisible whip.
Maat - Egyptian Goddess of Justice, Divine Order and Balance. Her symbol is a feather.

Maeve/Medb/Queen Maeve/Medhbh - Celtic (Irish) Queen of Connacht who personifies the heights of feminine power. She was no doubt once a powerful Goddess who merged with a later historical figure. Her name means "intoxicated woman" and she was known for her long golden hair fiery temperment and iron will. Of the many legends surrounding her the most famous is the Cattle Raid of Cooley. In this myth her coveting of a famous Ulster bull began a war with Ulster. As an archetypal sovereign her aging husband the ineffectual King Ailill seems as if he would be replaced by Cuchulain who resists the sacrificial role and battles her instead. She wins the battle and Cuchulain's blood is spilled on earth in the manner of all sacrificial Gods. Her sexual images are also strong and she often boasted that she could sexually exhaust thirty men each night. As evidence of her feminine power battles would pause while she menstruated. Ancient peoples believed this time to be the peak of a woman's power. Maeve was not only a powerful leader but also an expert warrioress huntress and horsewoman. Animals particularly horses are often depicted with her. Involve Maeve in sex magick) and spells for leadership skills. Call on her power to gain perseverance and strength or to ward off enemies. The Lare are collective ancestral spirits, and the Mane are individual ghosts of the dead. Manea is the crone aspect of the goddess and rules over decline and death. When the moon begins to wane, following the full
moon, we associate this phase with Manea. Again, my information is from Wiccan Stregheria, as opposed to genuine Stregoneria sources.

Royal women who held the title of "God's Wife of Amun" were all shown with iconographic features which linked them to Mut. Mut also has a more aggressive nature, that of Sekhmet the feline goddess.

In some paths, Obatala manifests as a female. Her colours are white and yellow, her day is Saturday, and the Saint she masks behind is the Virgin of Caridad del Cobre, the patroness of Cuba. Her sacred metals are gold and copper. Fresh, sweet, flowing water, such as springs, rivers and streams, is sacred to her, and offerings and spells in her honour are most effective when done in these places. Pazuzu (Also P'azuzu) - An Old Mesopotamian (appears variously in Assyrian, Sumerian & Babylonian lore) demon depicted with four wings and a fearful countenance, with a scorpion's tale and rotting genetalia.
In Babylonian demonology, Pazuzu is the son of Hanpa, father or brother of Humwawa. He is the Lord of the evil spirits of the air. Pazuzu, "Lord of the wind demons," spreads fever and cold and horrible diseases. Loosely, he might be described as a "Bringer of Plague."
There are a vast variety of charms and spells to ward off Pazuzu's influence, and he himself has been called upon and made offerings to in order to ward off his influence and that of other devils. Pazuzu was used on amulets to banish the baby killing Lamaschtu. He is also called upon to aid in curses, particularly by modern magicians.
Should you choose to work with Pazuzu, precautions that should be taken as his temprament could be described as insane and unstable to say the least.
Firstly, whatever the English language version of the Simon Necronomicon says, Pazuzu is most definitely NOT equivalent to the Demon Choronzon, and should not be worked with as such. The Simon Nec figures that the Dunwich Horror is related/equivalent to Choronzon (in Crowley's work) and Pazuzu (in Sumerian magick).
Secondly, if you work regularly with Lilith, and decide to work with Pazuzu, expect fireworks. This is related to Pazuzu being used to counter and protect babies, children and prengant women from Lamaschtu, and the related Lilith.
If you do decide to to evocatory, invocatory, or communicatory workings with Pazuzu, create a talisman for him first, which can be ritually removed from your working space should he cause trouble.
Pazuzu's primay expression of displeasure and annyance seems to be disease - for example, all 3 people in the household when he was worked with suffered a variety of interesting diseases. I forget the specifics of one, but it seems that the diseases were appropriate for the people in question.
A member of the household who has a distinct feline aspect got cat flu, while an individual who associates with serpents got stomatitis (throat/mouth rot, which turns up rather nastily in reptiles). And yes, these were checked out by a doctor. All illnesses virtually vanished the day after the Pazuzu talisman was removed from the altar.
Exhortion to Pazuzu, taken from the Magician's Dictionary, which can be found at Tools of Chaos.
O nimble God of Pestilence and Woe

Snuff not this my hope to turn
Thy demon winds all loose to burn
(no help to martyrs, but to makers)
Those original Red Night Shapers

And made of Life its Death and Menstr'al Flood
Following is an excerpt from the excellent "Chaos & Sorcery" by Nick Hall on calling upon Pazuzu to aid in curse workings.
A time may occur where the sorcerer has his life threatened or a death threat is made against a loved one. In cases such as these retributive action in the form of a death curse can be activated. This removes the
possibility of the person carrying out his threat. The following technique is suitable to be used in such adverse circumstances.
Begin by meditating upon the threat that has been directed towards you. As you meditate, visualise the sender of the threat within your mind's eye whilst invoking all the anger your will can generate. As the anger
is invoked within you chant the name of the target person until you have manifested a powerful rage. At this point begin to beat your chest with your fist, stop the chant and summon Pazuzu with this relevant call.
Other malevolent demons of death/disease can be called if so desired, but Pazuzu will be particularly effective in carrying out the task at hand:
Pazuzu lord of the Southwest wind I summon thee.
Pazuzu Oh brother of Humwawa I summon thee.
Oh grinning dark angel I summon thee.
Oh horned double winged demon I summon thee.
Pazuzu sink your teeth into (victims name).
Pazuzu my your howl destroy his/her soul.
Oh Pazuzu who lays holf upon your victim until death,
Kil1 (victims name),
Before two cycles of the moon.
For this is my will.
When the summoning of Pazuzu is completed, visualise the victim standing in front of you and project a chaosphere into their heart shouting the name of the demon, then weave the words of the curse hy saying:
As Pazuzu is my aid,
With this demon's power a curse is made,
To kill (victims name).
Before two cycles of the moon,
You (victims name) will be sent to the grave.
Repeat the curse twice, then clap your hands twice or make two beats on a drum and say It is done. Make an offering to Pazuzu by burying a piece of raw meat in the ground. The meat can be buried under the shadow of your tree fetish. Pazuzu will be bound to the taskfor which he was summoned and will be released when the maggots have consumed the buried meat.

Carved images and statues of Priapus, with a large erect phallus, were placed in fields and gardens to ensure fruitfulness and protection. The Romans portrayed him as wearing wearing a long dress, with his genitals uncovered.
The Romans gave offerings to him, such as the produce of the fields, hone, milk, and occasionally donkeys. The Priapea, a collection of 85 poems, sometimes funny but usually obscene, were written in his honour. His symbol in Roman belief was the pruning knife.
Priapus originally appeared as a fertility god from Asia Minor, especially in Lampsacus on the Hellespont, where he was the most important god of the local pantheon. He was introduced in Greece around 400 BC, but never reached the popularity that he did the Roman belief.

Philotanus - Demon that leads men into pederasty, a minion of Belial.
Poiel - An angel of the order of principalities. He rules over fortune and philosophy. He also is one of the 72 angels of the zodiac.
Pomba Gira - Pomba Gira and her sisters are the female compamons of Eshu. Pomba Gira is said by some to mean "spinning pigeon" because a person possessed by her begins the manifestation by dancing and spinning drunkenly, although this is just one interpretation of her name.
The character of the Pomba Gira is primarily lascivious, promiscuous, pleasure-loving and free of all inhibitions. She has quite a lot in common with the succubus of European demonology but without the sinister overtones. She has also been equated with the Mesopotamian goddess/demoness Lilith.
She likes alcohol and sex and both can be indulged in her honor or used as an offering. She can be called upon to bring about the satisfaction of love, lust and vice, and also to cause others to lose control and disgrace or ruin themselves. Long term work with her has been said to inspire transvesticism in men.

R
Raphael - Judeo-Christian archangel associated with Healing and Truth.
Rhiannon - Celtic goddess (Welsh, Cornish). In myth Rhiannon's name translates as"divine" or "Great Queen". She is a potent symbol of fertility yet she is also an Otherworld death Goddess a bringer of dreams and a moon deity who is symbolized by a white horse. Her father was Heveydd the Old and she was married to both Pwyll and Manann.
Rhiannon riding her pure white horse appeared to her future husband Pwyll three different times before he was allowed to catch her. Though promised in marriage to Gwawl Ap Clud a minor sun diety she was determined to have Pwyll. He went to ask for her hand but instead was tricked into giving her to Gwawl as a matter of honor. A year and a day later Rhiannon used her magick a bit of conspiracy and the guise of honor to get away from Gwawl. Gwawl followed them but Pwyll caught him up in a bag and then tried to have him slain by telling everyone he was a badger.
Rhiannon was falsely accused of killing her infant son Pryderi who was actually kidnapped. All six of her handmaids fell asleep when the child disappeared and fearing they would be punished for their negligence killed a dog and smeared her with the blood, sat bones near her bed and accused her of eating the child. She was deemed guilty but Pwyll instead of having her killed stood her at the gate of his city to carry people in on her back like a horse.
Her lost child was returned years later when a servant discovered him on Bealtaine. His relieved parents named Pryderi which means "trouble."
In her guise as a death Goddess Rhiannon could sing sweetly enough to lure all those in hearing to their deaths and therefore she may be related to Germanic stories of lake and river faeries who sing seductively to lure sailors and fishermen to their deaths. Her white horse images also link her to Epona and many scholars feel they are one and the same or at least are derived from the same archetypal roots.
Rhiannon's original name is thought to be Rigatona (Gaulish) also meaning "Great Queen" indicating a much higher status in the Celtic pantheon than she enjoys today. Some sources say she was once a sun Goddess. Stories about her also aappear in the Mabinogion. In Magick and Ritual Rhiannon can aid you in overcoming enemies, exercising patience, working magick, moon rituals, and enhancing dream work. She correspondes to mares silver blood the waning mooning jasmine moonstones the color white.

Shub-Niggurath - the Black Goat of the Woods of the Lovecraftian mythos. Described as a type of "perverse fertility deity", Shub-Niggurath also is called the Goat with a thousand young.
She is apparently a very important deity in the Necronomicon mythos, judging by how frequently she is mentioned. There is obviously a connection between the cult of Shub-Niggurath and the many Goat cults of antiquity. In the Simon Necronomicon, she is equated with Pan.
Sekhmet - "The Terrible One". Egyptian goddess of war, battle, and vengance depicted as a lion or as a lion-headed woman, sometimes brandishing a knife. Later merged with Bast in some parts of Egypt. Every month Set was said to attack and devour the moon, the sanctuary of Osiris and the gathering place of the souls of the recently dead.
Set has been portrayed with red hair and eyes, with pale of skin, those with red hair have been regarded as bearing his mark, and are said by some to turn into vampires upon death.
He is said to also appear as Apophis, ("The Destroyer") an ancient Egyption left-hand adversary. Kenneth Grant claims Apophis is Set in his "Ophidian" (serpent) form. A huge Nilotic serpent that attempted to devour Ra, he figures strongly in the left-hand path.
Set is currently alledged to be speaking through Michael Aquino founder of the Temple of Set. Call me a born sceptic, but I have my doubts.
Shango - Once the fourth king of Yoruba, immortalized as the god of thunder. Shangó is legendary across the African Atlantic world. Squat - a modern entity, which has appeared in either, both, or no sexes. Whatever for it takes, Squat is the deity of parking spots. As sacrifices (in order to gain a parking spot), Squat apparently favours bad jokes and nuns (real, pictures or artificial, depending on legality and convenience). These nun images are to be placed on your car's dashboard.
Chants to call upon squat include:
"Om Squat, Om Squat, please find me a parking spot!"
and
"Hail Squat, full of grace, please find me a parking place!"
both of which can be chanted as mantras and/or followed by
"Nuns for Squat!"
Squat also protects vehicles from state retribution against parking violations, and has been associated with and accompanied by the Hindu god Ganesha, the mover of obstacles.
In and around the US city of Ohio area Squat is "a black meter-maid with a big wheel instead of legs and feet", invoked by the following chant:
"Hail to thee, O goddess Squat,
Find for us a parking spot."

T
T'an-mo - Chinese counterpart to the devil, demon of covetousness and desire
Tagni- a name for the God of Witchcraft in Stregheria.
Tammuz - Babylonian equivalent of Osiris, God of spring, whose wife, Ishtar, descended into Hades in order to bring him back to life. It was Ishtar who was compelled to remove her garments (i.e., facets of
her soul), one by one, in order to enter Hades completely naked. The idea being that we may take
none of our soul's crowns or accomplishments with us into death but have to meet it solely with
original, untried nature. Also called "Sataran" or "Serpent Goddess," by the Sumerians (according to
Riland).
Tana/Fana/Jana - a deity alleged to be the the Strega Star goddess, known as the Great Goddess, and she who is all Goddesses. Upon the Earth she is known as 'Fana', in the Heavens she is 'Jana' goddess of the moon, and in the Universe she is known as 'Tana'. Lakes, hills, streams and beaches are sacred places to Tana. Her sacred animals are dogs, owls and cats. Her sacred plants are moonflowers and willows, her sacred fruits are lemons and apples. As Fana she is the goddess of the Earth , forests wildlife and of fertility.
Tana is all that is feminine. She is total beauty and love. She is free, loving, sexual and independant. She is the Devine Lover, Enchantress, Temptress, Mother and Crone. This information is heavilly influenced by Wicca, so it's accuracy is questionable. This unfortnately applies to most of the information I have on Stregheria. For information on the possible origins of the goddess Tana see Losna.
Tanus/Fanus/Janus - daeity alleged to be Strega Star god, consort to Tana. He is known as the Great God, who is all Gods. On Earth he is 'Faunus', in the Heavens he is 'Janus', and in the Universe he is 'Tanus'. All mountains are sacred to him. His sacred animals are horses, wolves, woodpeckers and ravens. His sacred plants are the fig tree, oak, dogwood, laurel and the bean plant.
Tanus is the epitome of masculinity. He is strength and will, the power of fertility and the desire behind all of Creation and procreation. He is the hunter and provider and he is also the destroyer. He is wise and powerful. As Janus he is the god of the Sun and of all beginnnings, portals, doorways and threshholds; associated with journeys. As Faunus his is a god of nature, the forest, wildlife and of fertility.
Tana is the balance to Tanus, and He is the balance to Her. The God and Goddess complete each other and together they are the source of All Things. These are Wiccanised versions of Strega beliefs, so I am dubious as to their accuracy.
Terminus - Strega god of boundaries and fields, protector of personal property. Again I have researched this god from wiccan influenced sources, so there might be a lot of information that is wrong or missing.
Teutates - A Gaulish god to whom human sacrifices were made.
Toro Pethro - Loa that is the Petro bull.
Tiamat - "Dragon of Bitter Waters". Babylonian/Sumerian dragon goddess of the chaos of the primal ocean.
Tiamat is a powerful creative force (for she gave birth to the first gods and is the mother of all that exists), and can be a patient and just one (for she did not initially side with Apsu to attack the younger gods, her children, for their insolence, but advised that the older gods wait to see what transpired).
However, she is vengeful. Upon the murder of her consort Apsu by the younger god Ea, she made monsters, and waged war upon the
upstart gods. Upon her defeat by Marduk, her body was split in order to make the world.
According to the Enuma Elish, the Babylonian creation myth, Marduk cleaved her body in half, and from the upper half he created the
sky and from the lower half he made the earth. Her tears became the source of the Tigris and the Euphrates.
Her direction is the west.

Thothi (also known as Djehuti, Theutys) is the Egyptian equivalent of Hermes. He is the "Keeper of knowledge," stable sage and arbiter of the gods, their constant advisor, and wizard. It was his magical formulae that the dead need to know in order to pass through the underworld unscathed.
The Book of Thoth (which Crowley calls the Tarot), is supposedly the source of all wisdom. Thoth
is far more than the God of language. It is in the invention of language that both the
phenomenological and the material worlds are born. But language is the connection we make with
the millions of things in the universe and, similarly, Thoth is the connection or Fohat of the Gods to
their creative acts. He is the neter of the neteru.
In Egyptian mythology, Thoth is the product of a homosexual union between Seth and Horus.
Totok - A New Ireland medium, shaman or paraclete, who, like Hermes, the Grecian psychopomp, holds a serpent in either hand. His face is painted white, which links him to the gods and his eyes are shut to
show that he is in contact with the dead and the past. His face also suggests an inner perichoresis
linking him from the 19th to the 20th Century (Time-travel from past to future). His penis is painted
red in order to maintain earth and life connection. Its black tip is intended to contrast in balance with
the white face.

in particular were devoted to this deity.

Typhon - Draconic earth demon of Greek legend. He was said to be of human form down to his thights. From the thighs downward he had huge coils of vipers, which when drawn out, reached to his head and emitted a loud hissing. His body was bewinged and fire flashed from his eyes. Typhon hurled firey rocks and breathed fire. He loomed above the mountains, and brushed the stars with his head. One of his hands reached out to the west and the other to the east, and from them projected a hundred dragons' heads.
Father of the Chimaera, son of Gaia and Tartarus, Typhon's half-sister (and, according to some legends, his consort) is Echidna. In his childhood, Gaia told Typhon of the evils Zeus had perpetrated upon her other children. Later, Typhon went to war with Zeus and his gods. They fled to Egypt, Zeus attacking him with thunderbolts from a distances. Typhon eventually captured Zeus, who had to be resuced by Hermes and Aegipan. Legend has it that in a later battle Zeus finally defeated Typhon by casting Mount Etna in Sicily upon Typhon, where he was guarded by Hephaestus, who rendered his escape impossible by fitting gieant anvils to his head. Earthquakes are said to be caused every time Typhon struggles to escape, and his fiery breath still erupts as lava out of Mount Etna.
Typhon is also used as another name for Set (Slayer of Osiris). In the Wheel of Fortune, Typhon is the destructive force of existence related to Capricorn (the culmination of Pisces' dissolution). A god of evil winds, Typhon is the origin of the word, "typhoon."

Liquid energy, called Mitra Varuna ("Friendly Water God") is produced. Water can thereby be divided into Prana-vayu and Udana-vayu. Vayu means "air." Thus the Ancient Hindus correctly analyzed water as the mixture of two gases. Prana is the life principle (so must correspond to oxygen, which is essential to life) and Udana means "upward breathing" (so must correspond to hydrogen, which is the lightest element).

Therefore, she represents the mother who gives love, but does not give her power away. Yemay also rules over ancient wisdome and the collective subconcious, holding the secrets that are

Magicians commonly associate Yog-Sothoth with the Demon Choronzon, an entity which is said to be both the Abyss and it's guardian. Kenneth Grant has even gone so far as to work out that the gemmetria of a barstadisation of Yog-Sothoth's name produces the number 333.
