Communicating With Entities

Communication is a magickal technique related to both invocation and evocation. A self-explanatory term , communication can involve aspects of invocation and evocation, and some techniques more usually associated with divination, such as getting an entity to communicate through a pendulum, runes, tarot cards, an ouija board, etc.
The Use of a Pendulum
I have recently had some extremely good results in communication with various entities by means of a pendulum. The method I describe here can take some practice (although some people find it to be easy from the word go), but it is efficient once you get the knack for it, and for doing it without letting your subconcious interfere.

Drop most of the lighting in the room to create an environment that makes switching into the correct state of mind easier.
Inhale fumes of myrrh oil (you can drop some on a hot light bulb to get the fumes). I mind this jolts me into a suitable state of mind for working with 'darker' entities, as myrrh is sacred to many of them. (You can get Myrrh oil at most shops that stock aromatherapy stuff).
Light a single black candle (I have a specific lighter I use for this sort of thing), placing it in from of me on the table or floor, and sitting before it. I usually drop a little myrrh into the flame at this point, but it must not go out.

I usually perform a pendulum working of this sort when an entity is aready present in some form or another, but does not or cannot communicate any other way, but at this point one could call upon the entity.
Some methods I use to tell if an entity is present is by the the magickal charge in the room increasing drastically; by various magickal objects reacting in certain ways; and my familiars acting in a certain way. On occasion a smokey image the entity amy appear in the work space.
Once I am fairly sure the entity is there (and this should happen only because you have good reason to summon it, or because it wishes to communicate with you), evaporate some more myrhh oil and sit before the candle with my pendulum.

I use a tacky crystal pendulum on a piece of chain, which serves me well, although a better quality, better balanced pendulum is probably advisable. I hold it in whichever hand feels appropriate at the time. My system for yes/no answers is that a swinging motion in yes, a circular rotation is no, and a still or mixed movement is either 'maybe' or 'I don't know'. When holding the pendulum, your arm should be supported so as to prevent false responses. Needless to say. you must not swing the pendulum deliberately.

Once everything is set up, I ask a series of yes/no questions on the subject I want to know or want advice on. When trying to work out which entity I am speaking to (if I am unsure) I go through a list of the likely suspects. If I get no joy with that, the there are more complex ways to find out which involve laying out letters in the style of an ouija board. All the questions should be asked out loud, and you should be friendly in manner.
When I have what answers I want, or when the entity will tell me no more, I thank it, often speak a brief incantation praising it, and put a few drops of myrhh and about 5-10 mils of my blood into the hollow beneath the candle flame as a gift of thanks. I then leave the candle to burn in the room, generally staying out of the room as much as possible.

It is neither necessary nor reccommended to banish the entity if you are on good terms with it, although you might want to perform a ritual cleansing by having a bath or shower if you feel uncomfortable or disoriented. I should note that others will probably disagree with my opinions on the usefulness of banishing.
If the entity was somewhat hostile, I reccommend performing a banishing such as the LBRP.
