Elvis Day, as celebrated by Lauranz of the Zee, whos description of the day follows.
My daughter and I invented this one. Foolishment galore! It's a day of bad taste, excessive enthusiasm, too much money and too little good sense. Elvis represents to me a metaphor and a caricature of the fact that we don't just see "reality", we actively form it by our act of perception through a particular nervous system, as a transaction between our senses and whatever raw data exists "out there". The Elvis phenomenon takes this to an extreme. I have a swell Elvis Necktie which I wear on the first Elvis Day of the year.
