HANCOCK'S/ABRAHAM'S
I have started tracing my father's side of the family. My grandfather ERIC OAK HANCOCK was born in Gillingham, Kent 1907 and married in Portsmouth, Hampshire to FREDA MOLLY ABRAHAM in 1931. His father was EDWARD ERNEST HANCOCK who was born in Clapham, Wandsworth. He married ANNIE GIDNEY.
The Abraham's I have had a great deal of success with. I have managed to trace them as far back as c. 1740 in Alverstoke, Hampshire. I have inserted a new page into my web site with all the details. My ancestors go back as far as JOHN ABRAHAM and MARY HECKLEY.
The surnames associated with the Hancock's and Abraham's are: OAK, DEER, CLAYDON, DEASE, HECKLEY, SNOW, SANDERCOMB, HAPGOOD, BOND, GIDNEY, COX, SNOW, FRYER, NEWBURY and RIDDIFORD

BIRCH'S
I would like to advise anyone entering my web site that I have not, as yet, traced any of my ancestors from my husband's side (Birch). All of the ancestors detailed on the linked pages are from my mother's side only.

MY WHITE ANCESTORS
The White's are from Gloucestershire, UK, and in particular the Dursley area (so far!). Be warned!! - there are a lot of White families in the area who are not related (or can't be proved as related at the present time).
My ancestors go back as far as JOSEPH WHITE and EDITH around 1734. The surnames associated with the White's include:
GINGELL, SMETHAM, THEYERS and BLOODWORTH

MY PULLEN ANCESTORS
The Pullen's are from the village of Castle Combe in Wiltshire, UK. A link to more information about this village is found at the bottom of this page.
My ancestors go back as far as WILLIAM PULLING and MARY around 1690. They cannot be traced before that date in the village, so probably came from outside the County before then ~ possibly Gloucestershire. The surnames connected with the Pullen's include:
NEATE, FARR, HEAD and WICKS

MY PIPER ANCESTORS
The Piper's so far have been found in Northiam, East Sussex, but do not go back very far ~ only to around the 1780's/1790's. This part of the family is very elusive, mainly because of the common surname, but I haven't given up yet!
My ancestors go back as far as WILLIAM PIPER and SUSAN SWEATMAN

MY CREANEY ANCESTORS
The Creaney's are proving to be very elusive, due to originating in Ireland. A great fire in the main Record Office in the 1920's meant that a lot of records were lost, especially Parish Records. I do keep trying with this side of the family and haven't given up hope yet!
Again this family does not go back very far ~ only to my great great grandparents ~ GEORGE CREANEY and ELIZABETH HALL. GEORGE was born 1824.
We do have a branch of this family in the USA, as a son of George and Elizabeth was also called GEORGE and he left for America in the late 1880's (or so we are led to believe)
The surnames associated with the Creaney's include:
HALL, GEAR, BLACKBURN and BOWER-SMITH
NOTE: There is a title in this family which we know does exist. Some American relatives visited an Irish Cousin of my grandmother's in the early 1980's, and told her about it. Unfortunately, nothing was written down at the time.
