EDINBURGH CELEBRATES
THE JOURNEE MONDIALE
DE LA FRANCOPHONIE
(INTERNATIONAL DAY OF
FRENCH LANGUAGES
AND CULTURES)
Edinburgh, 4 March 2005.
To celebrate the Xth Week of the French Language and of «Francophonie», Lise Morel, from Premiere Classe, is organising, with other French expatriates, two events to celebrate the diversity of French culture
throughout the world.
So, uncharacteristically, a French wind will be blowing over Scotland's capital city, reminding all of the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland...
1) "Images d'Epinal? Scottish images of France"
a photo competition on the theme of the representations of France by the inhabitants of Edinburgh and its region. Prizes over £900.
First prize is £720 worth of French tuition. Deadline: 18 March 2005. This competition is open to
anyone who lives in Edinburgh and its surrounding area, and offers numerous prizes (theatre and cinema tickets, lunches,...).
Winners to be notified at the French Edinburgh Party on the 22nd of March 2005. Rules of the competition on request at: frenchedinburgh@gmail.com.

The International Day of the Francophonie celebrates the diversity of the French cultures throughout the world. It is an opportunity for like-minded people to get together in a spirit of peace and harmony.

Premiere Classe was founded by Lise Morel in 2000.
It provides language classes (French, German, Spanish, Italian,
etc) in Edinburgh and its surrounding area.
Lise Morel is French but has been living in Scotland and teaching adults for 15 years.
She has also published a
French guide to Edinburgh
On
a more eccentric note, she took part in a comedy show at the Fringe 2004, teaching
Stephen K Amos some French in front of an audience of 150 people . ..
