Tess joined the Progressive Players in October 1984. After a lifelong interest in theatre, and having tried most things to do with amateur dramatics, she found her calling --- in the "paint shop" under the stage, mixing paste for the set decoration or blending colours to create realistic brick wall effects. Her chief role (apart from being the current Chairman) is Properties Director. This also involves dark cubby holes and odd places in the building where hundreds of items are stored for use in our productions. Tess directs plays from time to time and has been known to act occasionally. She can also be found in the prompt corner, lighting and sound gallery and working behind the bar. Tess's personal highlights have been :- Set painting and props for "The Hand and the Word", being involved in "Close the Coalhouse Door" "The 15 Streets and "Nightingale". Tess was more recently involved as prompter in "Noises Off". Tess enjoyed the recent 80th birthday celebrations of the Progressive Players and is proud to be involved in the planning and implementation of improvements to the Little Theatre In Tess's words........." I enjoy being a member and am proud of our dedication to produce such high quality performances to our audience" |
