Melandra Row, Brookfield

Taken in the summer of 1978; the houses were demolished in August-September that same year. The houses were built to serve a mill which originally stood at their far end.

The houses were roofed in local stone rather than slate as were many older properties in the area.

The chimney was demolished in the 1930s.

Beyond the houses can be seen chimneys from mills at Woolley Bridge; Brookfield Chapel can be seen on the right hand side. A car showroom now occupies this site.
