A
number of ancestors were quarrymen and worked, amongst other
places,at Glossop Low Quarries; situated above Old Glossop and with a
good half hour climb to reach them. The Greenwood family were the
last to work them in the 20th century.
Now overgrown,
the walled track still leads from Old Glossop to the Low Quarries.
Horses were
used to transport stone down and had to be used to hold back the
weight as it moved downhill.
