WHERE TO EAT

Monmouthshire has a wealth of good eateries.  These are among the best and it is probably a good idea to book..

The Newbridge, Tredunnock, near Usk.

An excellent pub with rooms on the banks of the river Usk. Modern British Food.

The Hardwick, Old Raglan Road, near Abergavenny

The Guardian rates this pub 'blindingly good' and it is!

The Foxhunter ,  Nantyderry, between Usk and Clytha

Modern British food, always seasonal and always very good.

The Angel, in the center of Abergavenny

Great food right in the middle of Abergavenny.

The Bell, at Skenfrith, between Monmouth and Cross Ash

This pub has lots and lots of awards - with good reason.

The Stonemill, at Rockfield, between Monmouth and the Hendre

Not far from Monmouth, good food in a converted 16th century barn.

The Nantyffyn Cider Mill Inn, Close to Crickhowell

Worth the extra distance. Great food sourced locally.

The Felin Fach Griffin Inn, close to Brecon

Won the Best Family Restaurant in the UK award by the 2008 Good Food Guide

The Misbah , in the centre of Monmouth

If you are in the mood for a curry this establishment is a Monmouth legend.

Prego Bistro , in the centre of Monmouth

A relatively new restaurant in Monmouth. Fantastic food with an Italian bent.

The Clytha Arms, Old Raglan Road, between Raglan and Abergavenny

Another local legend with strong links the the Monmouthshire Hunt.

Warwicks (Half-Way House) Tal-y-coed  01600 780227

Opened this year.

The Crown, Pant-y-Gelli, between Abergavenny and Longtown

More of a 'pub' pub in the traditional sense.

Another good one in the village of Llandenny, a couple of miles from Raglan.
