Your safety and returning the data .

Safety is obvious and please remember your going out in most cases at the dead of the night, and in somecases to isolated locations so take with you some common sense on safety.

When choosing your survey location ensure that you know the area well.
if the area is new to you visit the area during the daytime to familiarise yourself with land marks and potential problems

Don't drive if your tired.

If you are doing this alone then try taking a friend with you, also take a mobile phone and very importantly a torch. Take ample clothing in case you get stuck anywhere, food and hot drinks. Tell someone were you are going and when your coming back.

Important.

If your taking part in this survey you do so at your own risk.

Returning your results.
(See guide notes to survey information: Survey Method page - left column)

Once you have completed your survey Please send back to me via e-mail if possible the same night. We will attempt the fastest survey ever.
Don't worry if your not online send the results to my address via ordinary post.

Closing Comments.

If you think this site is awful, well it is my first attempt, I did not want to do this, however I was persuaded that the power of the internet would raise the profile of the survey and more importantly the Long eared Owl.  If you have comments on the site I would be pleased to hear from you.

For those braving the elements on the night of March 3rd 2000, please have fun collecting the information and be safe and return safe.

Full results will be viewed on this site after the 3rd of March, and then the site will close.

Thanks to all that take part.
And see you all again in 2001
