CONSOLATIONS OF JESUS CHRIST

Christian believers are aware of sharing in the consolations of the Lord Jesus Christ as well as sharing in His sufferings.  'And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.' (2 Corinthians 1:7). What are His Consolations?

1. Jesus found consolation and comfort in His Life; it was indeed true His earthly life was a continual mix and scene of work, grief, ministry, movement and toil. He was comforted in His sorrows by frequent and at times secret communion with His Father (Luke 6:12). Jesus knew that he was accomplishing His Father's perfect purpose with pinpoint accuracy in Him and through His earthly life. This caused Him to rejoice with great joy in spirit (Luke 10:21). It was His positive consolation to be doing His Father's will.  'I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea thy law is within My heart.' (Psalm 40:8). Jesus experienced the sheer joy of answered prayer (John 11:42). Jesus found comfort in that worship which He never neglected and in His Father's smile.

2. His Finished Work afforded Him unspeakable comfort in the end. By it Redemption was perfected. Righteousness wrought. Atonement made, and the works of the devil destroyed.

3. Very precious are the Consolations of the Present Glory, consisting of Rest. Jesus is represented as 'sitting' (Colossians 3:1) and now waiting until His enemies become His footstool (Psalm 110:1). He ever liveth to make Intercession for all who come unto God by Him (Hebrews 7:25). We come as believers to Him today knowing that He is now in His Kingdom.
