The men elected and chosen to guard the gate of the House of the Lord had a responsible position in the work and witness of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It is not what we do in the on-going drama of Salvation; the criterion is for whom are we doing the work? The men elected and chosen for this responsible mission are recognised and named for us; ‘And Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark' (1 Chronicles 15.24).
Also of tremendous importance are the porters, they were not the least of the officials serving at the Temple of the Lord. Every single person called to serve the Lord in this situation are known to Him and honoured by having their names inscribed in the pages of Scripture. Look at the roll of honour for these ordinary servants of the Most High. Are you called, is your name listed; ‘with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters’(1 Chronicles 15.18).
WE ARE TO WAIT AT THE GATE of the House of the Lord
‘Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting
at the posts of my doors’ (Proverbs 8.34). No theological thesis required or
needed to be blessed by the Lord in the first instance of service for Him. What
we do need however is the ability to hear His voice, and eyes to see His Glory
and purpose in all we are called to do, hearing, seeing, and waiting to move at
the leading of the Blessed Holy Spirit of God. The call to the Church
today is for those who have ears to hear the sound of the trumpet as they did in
the Temple of old and eyes to see clearly the daily events at the gates of the
House of the Lord. We need to be waiting at the posts of the His doors.
PORTERS ARE AWARE OF EVENTS
Have a spiritual awareness of the actions of men and the unction and
blessing of God. Porters have many gifts, qualities and values given to them by
the Lord. They are a mix of the ordinary and extraordinary, watching, listening
and quick to move at the leading of the Lord. At times porter, or a caring
Pastor, often with the vision of a Prophet, regularly in using wings of prayer
as of the Priest taking requests to the very heart of God. Porters are people of
Power among the desperately weak and needy people limited in hearing, seeing or
moving and struggling past the gate of the Temple. The selected porters of God
can and will help carry the burdens of the weak, that is what porters do best.
Secure in the knowledge that God the Father is not willing that any single soul
should perish, but rather in and through His Son Jesus Christ and Him alone, can
any man find eternal Salvation.
DECLARATION OF DAVID
‘For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a
doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness’.
(Psalm 84.10). Porters and doorkeepers have indeed a priviledged position of
serving the Lord and His people in the House of God. With the added delight of
leading many from the tents of weakness and wickedness into the Temple of
security and strength.
Colours of the Trinity is
dedicated to the Lord. More pacifically to the God of the Bible. It is part of
the outreach and growing work of the Fellowship
of Evangelistic Ministries. We are men and women, who have stood by the gate
of witness in succession and dedication for one hundred and nine years, and
through those long and difficult years, have maintained a clear and powerful
presence in the Church and in the community.
Perhaps you feel more than interested in this work, and would wish to make
enquiries about the Work. Please do so I would lovingly encourage you to do so,
if the Lord has placed a call on your heart to serve Him, we are here to help
you fulfil your calling and potential.
