It is Good to Talk, or is it?

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. (Proverbs 10:19).

Words can weaken.

Christian believers need to be wary of too much talking!

Too much talking can lead to trouble; a rush of words can be ruinous at times.

Our spirit - our speech.

The life of our spirit is evidenced in our speech. Too much superfluous trivial talk is a waste of the vital forces of our heart.

Do not magnify the insignificant.

To maintain a meaningful union and special fellowship with the Lord most Christian are cautious and aware of the possible hindrances of the world and the war of words.

How things that should be buried are dragged out in gossip; how the worthless and none essential is argued and disputed over; how the life giving truths of the Holy Spirit are rattled over in a light manner.

The fewer – the greater.

Less strokes of the watercolour brush whilst painting a picture results in a clean clear work of art. Fewer strokes in a game of golf produce a clear winner. Too much talk can lessen spiritual power in witness for our wonderful Saviour. A few selected prayerful words when given by the Holy Spirit will sink into the hearts of friends and family and be helpful and beneficial to all who hear them.

Lock up loquacity.

By doing so we can refrain from saying things which are unwise and unprofitable or unpleasant save hours of useless conversation and enjoy a region in our spiritual lives of peace and power beyond our present expectations.

We can resolve and settle this issue personally, by walking in the Spirit, and avoid talking for talking sake.

Conclusion.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:29-32).
