MEANING and MESSAGE of JESUS CHRIST
and the NEW COVENANT

Method we are using is ‘Telescopic’ rather than ‘Microscopic’.

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life” (1 John 5:20.) “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. (Romans 16:24-27.)

MYSTERY MADE MANIFEST.
The word mystery signifies a secret which is only made known to the initiated. In the Bible sense it is truth which must be divinely revealed. To know Him, is to love Him, to love Him is to serve Him. The more we know of the Lord Jesus Christ the more we long to know. Lets talk about Jesus in a clear and positive way. The truth concerning the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ can fill our hearts and minds with a knowledge that is so important and beneficial to our daily Christian life.
My study library has many books on the life of Jesus by authors who have covered hundreds of pages with their thoughts and ideas, yet I am usually left with the feeling there is so much truth yet to be known. How we need the insight and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to light up the Scriptures for us. Perhaps the great believers and scholars who compiled the Westminster Confession used the English language in a masterly manner to contain the complexity and convey broad brushstrokes of truth regarding the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ:
'The Son of God, the second Person of the Trinity, being very and eternal God, of one substance with and equal to the Father, did, when the fullness of time was come, take upon Him the nature of man, consisting of a true human soul and body, with all the essential properties and common infirmities thereof, such as weariness, death, grief, hunger, etc., yet without sin. This body was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary; so that the two perfect and distinct natures, the Godhead and the Manhood, were inseparably joined together in one Person without conversion, composition, or confusion, which Person is Very God and Very Man, yet one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Mediator and Saviour. One effect of this union of two natures in one person is that what pertains to each nature is ascribed to the whole person.
The Lord Jesus is eternal, yet the Lord Jesus died; the Lord Jesus is divine, yet the Lord Jesus bled and suffered. His Person must never be divided, and His nature must never be confounded. Divinity cannot suffer, bleed and die; and Humanity is neither divine nor eternal (without beginning or end), but in Him as the God-Man all divine and human perfections meet.' ----- The Saviour of men came to seek and to save the souls who were lost to the good. His Spirit was moved for the world, which he loved with the boundless compassion of God.

MIND OF JESUS.
METHOD OF JESUS.
MANIFESTATION OF JESUS.

When the Lord Jesus had come to the final hour, it was not only the end of His life; it was the end of His Work. He said, "It is finished" (John 19:30) the work which His Father gave Him to do was completed in every minute detail in that hour. His finished work included and comprised;

(1) ATONEMENT FOR SIN by the imputatation (to attribute or ascribe something criminal and wicked to a person) of the Church's sin to Him and by the substitution of His Person, His Body for all sinners. In this the great doctrines of Imputatation and Substitution are the foundation wrought and provided by the Lord Jesus Christ.

(2) CONFLICT ENDED. The Saviour of Men's earthly work and mission was utterly finished. Satan and hell were conquered; and outright victory gained. In the hour of apparent failure, humiliation and defeat, the Lord Jesus Christ was superb in His dominance as He vanquished all His enemies and foes, - and ours too.

(3) WORK OF REDEMPTION WAS FINISHED. There was absolutely nothing more to done. His Powerful Death paid the full price of our Redemption from the curse of sin and the Curse of the Law. The work of redemption was finished on every level and in every detail. There is nothing more required. It is over, it is finished!

(4) SIN WAS MADE AN END OF. In the dying suffering Body of Jesus Christ sin was forever destroyed and finished.

(5) RIGHTEOUSNESS WAS ALSO FINISHED. It was wrought out, and at the same hour brought in on Calvary's Cross. There the last stitch was put into the garment of needlework of the magnificent robes of the redeemed Church. (Psalm 45:14) Obedience was perfected through suffering. (Hebrews 5:8)

(6) TYPES OF THE CEREMONIAL LAW PERFECTED IN JESUS CHRIST; “Therefore that which is perfect being come, that which was in part is done away with” (1Corinthians 13:10); the yoke of bondage being forever laid aside (Galatians 5:1)

NEW COVENANT
“Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you” (Luke 22.20.)
“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises” (Hebrews 8.6.)
“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel” (Hebrews 12.24.)
