Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Scripture in the Old and New Testaments speak of 'a rising or raising up,' and its use is designated to the future general raising of the bodies of all men by the power of God from the grave.
Principle passages in the New Testament are (Matthew 27:52-53; John 5:29; John 6:39; Acts 2: 25:32; Acts13:34; Romans 8:11, 22-23; Philippians 3:20-21; 1Thessalonians 4:13-17; 1 Corinthians 15.)

The foundation and the grounds of the Christian's belief in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and also the general and final resurrection of the bodies of the saints are these:

1. The Resurrection is declared in the Scriptures of Truth. (Matthew 22:23-35; John 5:28-29; Acts17:18, 31-32).

2. Jesus Himself rose from the dead as the 'first -fruits' the earnest of the ingathering of the whole harvest. (1 Corinthians 6:14; 2 Corinthians 4:14; Ephesians 2:6; Romans 6: 5, 8-9.)

3.The Resurrection in Nature. There are several well-known analogies. Seed sown in the ground then springing to life. The metamorphosis of insects. The one we all experience is our nightly sleep followed by the morning awakening. Simple signs for all to see.

4.The Resurrection in Old Testament. The old dispensation shadows the resurrection, as in the account of Jonah. It clearly seen in (Job 19:25-29; Isaiah 26:19). Look at Daniel 12:2-3,13. Some spiritual people suggest there is a representation of it in the cleansing of those defiled by the touch of death (Numbers 19:11). What do you think?

5. Raised from the Dead. Scripture tells of such. The dead child raised by Elisha. The son of the widow of Nain. The daughter of Jairus. Lazarus the brother of Mary and Martha. Also the saints at the resurrection of the Son of Man.

Have you noticed that those raised by Jesus were the daughter of Jairus who was raised soon after death. Then, the son of the widow, just as the funeral was taking place, and Lazarus after he lain in the grave four days.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
