Saved and rescued twice over

It is possible to be saved from the power of sin and the guilt of sin. – The double cure!

But this man, (Jesus Christ) because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:24, 25).

Many years ago a young English lad went to stay in a rural community in Scotland.

He was enjoying a swim in a small lake when overcome with cramp some distance from the shore and shouted for help. In the field near the lake a farm lad heard the cry for help; he plunged into the water and brought him to safety.

Some years later the two met again. The boy from the city asked the country boy what his plans for the future were, and learned his wish was to study medicine. So the wealthy parents funded the farm lad’s education.

The farm lad studied hard, graduated and his career was in scientific research. Alexander Fleming worked with the wonder drug of the time penicillin.

The boy pulled out of the lake also rose to fame. The London youth went to the Near East to meet Roosevelt and Stalin during the Second World War.  He contracted pneumonia there and his condition was critical.

So the drug penicillin was flown out to him, and his life was again saved.

For the second time Alexander Fleming saved the life of Winston Churchill at that time the Prime Minister of England.

Famous or not we all can be saved through a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Indeed we can be saved twice, from the power of sin and the guilt of sin.
