Our Lord Jesus Christ declares: “I am…the Truth” (John 14-6) the triple – glory of this text constitutes one of the greatest utterances to fall from His lips, and one of the greatest promises made to the disciples is: “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free” (John 8-32). The Lord Jesus Christ is the Truth in a fourfold manner. He is the Truth:
Essentially: By virtue of the complexity of His Person, consisting of Godhead and Manhood. In His Deity, the Lord Jesus is Truth absolute. In His humanity He is truth revealed. So the Lord Jesus in His most glorious Person as the God-Man is Truth Incarnate. All Truth is in Him; out of Jesus Christ Himself is no Truth at all. He is also the Truth:
Efficiently: By Him it is declared and made known. The result of divine teaching is knowledge of the truth, as the Truth is in Jesus (Ephesians 4-21) Sincere disciples sit and learn at His feet. His voice is the voice they hear and there He breathes into their hearts the Spirit of Truth. The Lord Jesus is also the Truth:
Substantially: He is “The Word” (John 1-1) which cannot deceive. Here is complete and utter certainty. The Glory of the Truth without deficiency or superfluity of any kind shines in HIM, and whoever receives Him receives the Truth (John 1-12) in the love of it (2 Thessalonians 2-10). The Lord Jesus Christ is so really and exclusively the Truth that the way of Truth however attacked and maligned and spoken evil off, is now and forever a safe way. Also the Lord Jesus Christ is the Truth:
Actually: Every glimpse of Truth is a fresh revealing of His Glory. Rightly received, all scientific truth points to Jesus as the Head of creation, all ethical truth leads to Him as the source of all purity. All philosophic truth finds in Him the Fount of all Wisdom. All Theological and religious truth centres in His Person and Work. All is for lifting Jesus on high, the Alpha and Omega, who is the sum of all things. We rejoice in the triple – glory of One who is
