They Talked Together

And they talked together of all these things which had happened. (Luke 24: 14)

They talked together about a man who had never being afraid to speak out, who was not afraid to take risks. The man they spoke about was never reckless; he was a strong, determined and fearless person.

He held his own personal values, qualities and striking ideas and deep insights which he shared freely with people willing to learn and listen. He had a will of his own and spoke his mind at all times. With any trace of arrogance he had no cause to apologise to those listening to the great things he was saying.

Of course, at times he was misunderstood and had a unique style of answering questions with questions. He caused his listeners to stop pause and consider. He made people think by putting the ball back in their court. He could make men and woman feel special and important he brought a quality possibility and potentiality to their hearts and minds. He was good to be with for he had an ability to brighten up the most miserable situation.

He was particularly powerful with sick and poorly people. The blind, deaf and lame had quality life restored to them very quickly, usually it was immediate. He could turn lives round with a sentence or a word, a touch of his hand was life enhancing. He was totally different from any other in this respect. He made people think more and walk faster.

He was good at supplying fast food to hungry crowds, providing more than could be eaten in one meal. He could make children smile as they played in the local market place and comfort many adult with severe social problems.

Always a story to tell where ever he went he made sure that there was a story to tell at the end of it. He did enough to make those he meet to have their own story to tell of what he had said or what he had done. His stories tell and show a truly original unique and complex man. He was full of life and his enthusiasm for life was infectious always on the move he could and did put his hand to anything.

He loved life yet was not afraid to die and often spoke of that coming event with joy. He made the world a better place making holes in the thick darkness of human need with the golden light of love from above.

It is no wonder they talked together about all the things that had happened.

While they talked together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
