Come Closer

He is not here: for He is Risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (Matthew 28 6)

It happened as He had repeatedly said it would. The grave was empty. Jesus was not there. All the plans of men had come to nought except to emphasise how wrong they were on every level of planning in security matters!

The grave was neat and tidy; all the linen bandages folded and set out. No sign of clumsy disturbance by men or creatures of the night.

REASSURANCE NOT REBUKE

The women were frightened by the events of recent times. Many other people had scattered and run the Cross will always divide and scatter! The two women had however remained loyal to their Lord though the world had despised and crucified him.

COME CLOSER

The heavenly messengers spoke the Word given to them; they did not create the message themselves. ‘Come and see the place where He lay’. The women must be reassured that everything was orderly, so, were invited to see whatever there was to been seen. It was a moment of simplicity and sublime in its statement of divine power and purpose.

COLOURS OF THE TRINITY

Christ’s resurrection was the work of the triune God. The Father raised him from the dead

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4).

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead (Galatians 1:1).

Christ’s resurrection was the work of the triune God. The Spirit raised him from the dead

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8: 11).

Christ’s resurrection was the work of the triune God. The Son took back the life which he had laid down.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. (John 10:18).

For the strength and comfort of believers, these three are and always will be ONE.
