“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things
in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every
tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)
He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up
in still another village, where He worked in a carpenter’s shop until He was
thirty years of age. For the next three years He was an itinerant preacher. He
never wrote a book. He never held office. He never had a family or owned a
house. He didn’t go to college. He never travelled more than two hundred miles
from the place where He was born. He did none of the things one usually
associates with greatness.
When he was thirty-three years of age, the tide of public opinion turned
against Him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to His enemies and went
through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to the cross between two thieves.
When He was dying, His executioners gambled for His clothing, the only property
He had on earth. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave, through the
kindness of a friend.
Twenty centuries have come and gone and today He is the central figure of the
human race and the real leader of mankind’s progress. All the armies that ever
marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all
the kings who ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on
earth, as much as this one solitary life.
Let me tell you what happened to me, when I ‘Beheld the Man’
I lost all my pride and arrogance and realized my personal need as a guilty
sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans
3:23)
I believed in God’s Word and in repentance confessed my sin. Immediately I was aware of His forgiveness in my life. “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins” (Acts 13:38)
Then I told other people what had happened to me through acceptance of the
Gospel. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved.” (Romans 10:9)
August is the perfect time to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Please commit your life to Him. He has blessed my life and He will certainly bless you the same way. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Today would be perfect!
