Colours of the Trinity

The following sermon was preached at the Wesleyan Evangelical Church of the Nazarene. Bramley, Leeds. A time of Bible ministry to members of the church and dear friends reached in the community over six weeks of outreach.
A prayer of Dedication by Rev. Ian R. Newton and leaders and members of the fellowship was a moving moment. 'Colours of the Trinity' Website was dedicated to the Work and to the Glory of God around the World. So that its message and content will result in the Salvation to those people who have eyes to see and ears to hear. This website is also a prayer site. Hymn
Colours of day dawn into the mind,
The sun has come up, the night is behind.
Go down in the city, into the street,
And let's give the message to the people we meet.

So light up the fire and let the flame burn,
Open the door, let Jesus return.
Take seeds of His Spirit, let the fruit grow,
Tell the people of Jesus, let His love show.

Go through the park, on into the town;
The sun still shines on, it never goes down.
The light of the world is risen again;
The people of darkness are needing a friend.

Open your eyes, look into the sky,
The darkness has come, the sun came to die.
The evening draws on, the sun disappears,
But Jesus is living, His Spirit is near.

Colours of the Trinity
Rev. Frank Rowley.
Bible reading Exodus 35:1-35 (NKJV)

"In Blue, Purple and Scarlet ... and those who design artistic works" (Exodus 35:35)

The plans of the tabernacle were of heavenly design, as was its dimensions, materials and colour schemes. It was conceived in the heart of God and built by the hands of men and woman. That is the pattern that the Lord uses. Believers, then as now, can be of no earthly good unless they are very heavenly minded!
Let me introduce you to the people involved in the wonderful work, the colourful artistic work. The palette of the 'Colours of the Trinity' included gold, silver, and bronze. The other important ranges of colours were Blue, Purple and Scarlet. The Lord of heaven intended His people to have a place of prayer and ministry; it would provide rich colour and give truth and guidance to the travellers. This is set against a rich wash of raw sienna and burnt sienna of the desert sands. The believer in every age, and human situation will be stimulated and inspired by the glowing sparkling colours, above him, around him, and beneath him.

(1) Wise Hearted People
They were wise hearted people, for one fundamental reason. They had listened to the word of the Lord. That exercise and discipline will always result in wisdom. The fear (love) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If you lack it you can ask for it.
"Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring an offering to the Lord: gold, silver, and bronze; Blue, Purple and Scarlet" (:5-6.) We are all so very different in character and nature. Some here today are Wise Hearted. Others in our Church are Willing Hearted. Maybe you are Hard Hearted, bitter and cynical. Life seems so unfair to you and yours. Perhaps you are Broken Hearted; tears are seldom far away from your eyes.
Those with wise and willing hearts in the work of the Lord will be encouraged and blessed in His lovely Name. Hard cynical hearts can be touched and softened as it were by the powerful gentleness of His continuing love for you. Broken hearts can be mended and restored to wholeness.
Jesus came from heaven to earth to bind up the broken hearted. He is the Compassionate Christ.
Whatever kind of heart you have. I tell right at this moment from this pulpit on the authority of this book, God's Word, by our repentance of sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There's a place for you, near to the Heart of God.

(2) Worked With Their Hands
"Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord's offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments" (:21.)
All the woman who were gifted artisans spun yarn with their hands, and brought what they had spun, of Blue, Purple, and Scarlet, and fine linen.
Our hands are so important to each of us and they are important to the Saviour.
Recently this fact became so real to me. Stephen our son was involved in a serious accident; his hand was caught in the blade of a high-speed circular saw. His wife Sharon wrapped his blood soaked hand in a tea towel, first thing in reach. Quickly drove him to St. James Hospital in Leeds. Had a word with the surgeon of the Hand Ward, incredibly the Ward on which she works as a nurse. "He's my husband please do the very best you can for him." They operated immediately, it was wonderfully successful surgery. At times our hands need the skill of the medical surgeon, at all times our hands need the miraculous help of our Mighty Saviour.
Christian believers must be 'hearts in' and 'hands on' people.
We pray always yet we are always practical.
We pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven and at the same time we walk the streets of this great City of Leeds with the message of repentance, forgiveness, restoration, redemption and renewal. We witness with love and with compassion remembering always that Jesus reached out His hands over the City of Jerusalem. And at Calvary His hands were fixed to the Cross by nails.

(3) Witness To Their Work
Each piece of work was brought to the Lord.
"And every man, with whom was found Blue, Purple and Scarlet thread, fine linen, and goat's hair and red skins of rams, and badger skins; brought them" (:23.) Their work their effort and endeavour, became a witness of their love for all to see and share.
"You" said the Lord Jesus Christ to His followers "shall be My Witnesses in Jerusalem in Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth" (Acts 1:8.) The newly dedicated 'Colours of the Trinity' WebPages is in part a realization of our prayer and the Fulfilment of the Saviour's promise and prophesy.
The Circle of God's Love is an ever-decreasing circle. Silently it moves and glides and is locked around our hearts, binding our hearts in forgiveness, holiness, wholeness, compassion and wisdom.
Our lives are filled with the 'Colours of the Trinity.'

(4) Worlds Of Colour
Blue - At times we are lifted above ourselves. By His Spirit we find ourselves in the Heavenly places. Caught away into a softer blue. I can when painting mix from my box of artist's watercolour paints, Ultramarine blue with Cobalt blue add a touch of Cerulean blue and light red and produce a sky picture of beauty. However in the reality of God's Heaven, Glory and Majesty sits One, whose Face Shines with His own inherent Glory. He ever lives to intercede on my behalf. His is the exalted position of Power, Might, and the very power's of hell unable to prevent the ongoing purposes of His Will for the Church of the Redeemed and every single individual member of that glorious Church, the Church of the Firstborn.
Purple - The white seamless robe of the Nazarene was taken from Him, for the hour had come for Him to take the royal Robe of Purple. From the dirty hands of sinful men, working under the orders and instructions of sinful men. The sinless Saviour of men wore the Purple Robe; it is the colour of the King Both King of the Jewish People and at the same time He is the King of the Universe. Messiah of Israel. Son of God. Son of Man, Saviour of all Men. My Lord and King.
Scarlet - "See from His Hands, His Feet and Side sorrow and love flow mingled down. Did ere such love and sorrow meet or thorn's compose such rich a Crown?" A scarlet stream of Blood made the Altars of the Temple redundant. His, was a new and living way. His death on the Cross of Calvary has brought life and immortality to all who repent and believe.

In Blue, Purple and Scarlet they brought their love to the Lord.
In Blue, Purple and Scarlet the Lord Jesus Christ brought His Love to YOU.
