Is it God's Will

Many will tell me that if I believe
Answer to prayer I shall receive
If I only have faith, and am sure ‘tis God’s will
Each request I may make He’ll surely fulfil.

And this is quite true, His Word says it, I know
But oh in my heart, I don’t find it so
I know that He can, of this I am sure
He is Almighty, what want I more?

But is it His will? This I would know
Without assurance how can I show
A faith that is sure and steadfast and true
That expectantly waits for the answer due?

So many have prayed in years long gone by
And no answer have seen when called to die
Why should I think God will answer prayer
E’en though it’s His glory I desire?

Is it for His glory? Will I bow to His Will?
With this dilemma my thoughts often fill
Lord Jesus may I Thy Sovereign Will see
Give Thou Thy wisdom and peace unto me
