In the final sequence it showed the sinking of a submarine in a Scottish Loch, the plot revolved around British attempts to recover an "Enigma" cipher machine, coupled with a reference to the "Katyn massacre". It seemed funny that these two events should be linked to two sites no more that a mile apart. The link, within the grounds of the German cemetery there are the remains of the crew of U-33. a German submarine that attempted to lay underwater mines in the Clyde estuary. |
INDEX |
I was visiting the cemetery purely to see where those
German soldiers and sailors were buried, I got talking to one of the
grounds men who related that their were the crew of a submarine interned
there. He described what he had learned about them, as I told
him my little story as to where they had been stored.
He showed me where they were buried, and I started to look for further information about the event. The captain of the sub was Wilhelm Von Dresky |
