Alan is to attend a stage play highlighting the treatment of women and children who seek asylum in the UK. The play, held tonight and repeated on March 15 at the Young Vic, titled Motherland, is to be performed by Juliet Stevenson and her daughter Rosalind in aid of Women for Refugee Women

Alan has said tribute to the late Anthony Minghella, director of Truly, Madly, Deeply, who died on March 18. Minghella’s latest work, The No1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, received its premiere in London that night. Read more and read Truly co-star, Juliet Stevenson’s tribute here.  
And, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final installment in the Harry Potter series, is to be split into two movies to be released in November 2010 and May 2011.

Alan attended the private funeral of Anthony Minghella in Hampstead, London on April 5th. Alan and Truly, Madly, Deeply co-star, Juliet Stevenson performed  scenes from the film. Read more. A memorial service is planned for his native Isle of Wight. Also, Alan has been named in Entertainment Weekly’s Top 50 Actors you’d watch in anything. Read more.

Alan is to direct a new production of August Strindberg’s, Creditors, at the Donmar Warehouse Covent Garden, London from September 25th to November 15th 2008 (press night 30 September). The production is a new adaptation by David Greig. Read more. Creditors is a dark comic play of obsession, honour and revenge.  
Also, Freestyle Releasing is set to distribute both Bottle Shock and Nobel Son. Bottle Shock is set for a 250 cinema release in the US this year. Read more. Odd Lot International will be commencing foreign sales of the movies at the Cannes Film Festival, France from next month. Read their press release
And the memorial service for director, Anthony Minghella, is set to take place at St Thomas’s Church, Isle of Wight on April 26th. Read more.

Alan is to speak at the Oxford Union, Oxford University’s famous debating and discussion society on Tuesday 6 May 2008 at 8.30pm. He is accompanied by Gina Carter, the producer of Snow Cake. Read about Gina and Alan’s appearance here and here.
And Alan is also to appear on BBC Radio 4 on Saturday May 3 from 2.30pm in a tribute program to Anthony Minghella. He is joined by Juliet Stevenson to read a selection of Anthony’s favourite poetry and prose. The program will also play Anthony’s first radio play, Cigarettes and Chocolate. Read more. Also Alan attended the memorial service for Anthony Minghella on the Isle of Wight on April 26.  He read from Hang Up, the 1998 Prix Italia award winning radio play written by Anthony. Alan is to perform specially commissioned text by Anthony Minghella in Reading Room at the Point, Eastleigh, Hampshire on 27 and 28 June. The event combines dance, music, literature and film. Tickets are only £10. Buy now!
