The Philadelphia Story
Old Vic Theatre, London,
Tuesday 24 May 2005
The Play
I was surprised that the play is in 3 acts, being 30 mins, 50 mins and 40 mins each.
Jennifer Ehle is very good, and of course Kevin is divine, commanding the stage in his scenes, comic timing impeccable as ever. Nicholas Le Prevost, who plays Uncle Willy is hilarious and the best supporting cast member.
The costumes and stage dressing is amazing too with the lighting convincing you that the stage really is outdoors.
The Stage Door
The play ended at 10pm and I wandered around to the stage door straight away. I thought I would have plenty of time to get pen ready, camera out etc, but 5 minutes later, I spotted Kevin coming down the stairs! He opened the door and greeted everyone (approx 15 of us) with a smile and a thank you all for coming. He started signing the various items. I hung back until the end and he took my programme and pen and said "thanks so much" signed my programme and gave it back saying "thanks so much" again. He then said thank you to everyone and went back inside.

National Anthems
Old Vic Theatre, London,
Saturday 19 March 2005
National Anthems is my favourite of the four plays I have seen Kevin perform in at the Old Vic.
Ben Cook (Kevin) arrives at the home of Arthur and Leslie (Steven Weber and Mary Stuart Masterson) at the end of their house party. Making himself at home, the witty banter begins between the characters, play fighting ensues and a confession of a broken man ends the story. Kevin captivates you from the moment he is on stage in this 3 person play, on the mark with his humour and bringing you in to the tragedy of his character.
