Alan is to host the Roundhouse Rock and Roll charity gala on 12 June at The Roundhouse, Camden, London. Other hosts include Ewan McGregor and Dame Helen Mirren. Roundhouse Studios is the charitable branch of the venue who host creative performing art projects for 13-25 year olds. Read the publicity statement. Scientists have devised a formula to calculate the perfect male and female human voice. Alan, together with Michael Gambon and Jeremy Irons combine to be the ideal male voice. The perfect female voice is a combination of Dame Judi Dench, Mariella Frostrup and Honora Blackman. Read more.

The official Bottle Shock movie website has been expanded to now include behind the scenes featurette, cast interviews and image gallery (photo, left). The movie opens in the US on 6 August. Check out the website for a full list of cities.
Also, Alan paid tribute to the late actress, Elizabeth Spriggs. Whilst unable to attend the funeral, Alan’s tribute was read to the congregation, saying of the Sense and Sensibility actress “She was an inspiration to aspiration - the finest of Shakespear's women”. Read more.
And Alan is to narrate a story for Nelson Mandela’s Favourite African Folktales audio book. Other actors signed up include America Ferrera and Whoopi Goldberg. Read more.

Alan attended the Great British Movie Event, hosted by the National Film and Television School in London on 17 June. See photos from the event here, including this one of Alan.
And Alan helps to launch FilmClub. The children’s movie club has rolled out across the UK and Alan has lended his support to the cause, with Emma Thompson and Jason Isaacs amongst others. Read Alan’s comments on FilmClub and read more about its launch.

Alan took part in the Jonathan Lunn Dance Company’s production of Reading Room at the Point, Eastleigh, Hampsire on 27 & 28 June. Alan read text by the late Anthony Minghella.
