EXT.BUM BAG+Water Bottle Pouch: Inexpensive extending bum bag by Regatta with mesh straps. Previously reinforced at stress points on home sewing machine. Insulated Hi-Gear bottle pouch 41gms. Total: 389gms (Yeoman's Outdoor £10+)

RAB SURVIVAL ZONE: Rab's coated Pertex sleeping bag cover 424gms with supplied stuff sac 18gms (to ensure a compact re-pack) Total: 442gms (Outside £55)

GROUND INSULATION: Cascade Designs Ridgerest (cut down) 199gms. A reflecting foil pad cut from a windscreen sun reflector - various uses. Can be used under lower legs - wraps around trunk under jacket or can be worn next to skin if desired - wind shield etc. Foam plastic backing - more substantial than space blanket - 70gms. Total: 269gms (Nevisport £20 & Bucket shop £1)

SLEEPING BAG: RAB Alpine Summit 300. Some slight trimming - toggles for tarbuck knots etc. No stuff sac.- unnecessary as fits well into bum bag. Rab silk Technical liner 65gms. Plastic bag adds 18gms. Total: 847gms (Hitch and Hike £150 / Silk liner Outside £40)

WET WEAR: A Ron Hill cycling top - lightest top to hand. 200gms (Yeoman's Outdoor £15)

KITCHEN: Just a plastic spoon and 2 bottles: 2litre Platypus - half filled last thing. 600ml lemonade bottle as hip flask.

MAPS: Scale 1:50,000 to south of Castleton, 1:25,000 thereafter - photocopied and cut. Highlighted route. Grid detail reinstated where necessary. Home cut and soldering iron welded zip-lock freezer bag+1 spare. 32gms.

TORCH: Ring Micro Cyba-lite - on ribbon lanyard. 12gms.

FOOD:  2*100gram portions of dried milk muesli were made up and sealed lengthways to make a convenient 'bowl shape' when opened. With 8 cereal bars at 200gms (3 came back), a 200gm bar of nut chocolate (half came back) and a 200gm bag of peanuts (given away in pub at Castleton). Food/water stops were made at: Cannon Hall Garden Centre (not planned!), Penistone (chippy, Pubs, Shops (Sat), The LadyBower Inn (A57), Castleton. Millers Dale (sadly The Wriggly Tin cafe is now closed - see photo: Sunday) - please email me if it has reopened since May 2004) - water here from car park toilets. (The Waterloo Inn is passed on the A6 crossing). Monyash. Bradford Dale (Youlgreave nearby). The Miners Standard is passed near Winster.
