I have been commissioned by the Oxford University editors of the New Dictionary of National Biography to produce an entry for the Liverpool poet, radical and co-founder of the Blind School, Edward Rushton. This has prompted me to revise a longer article largely contained in Chapter 2 of Pioneers and Perseverence - A History of the Royal School for the Blind, Liverpool 1791-1991, which was published in 1991. This article is now published in full with illustrations as well as the shortened form for the DNB. Click picture.

Two articles from Frank Green on aspects of Roby history - Medieval Roby and the 19th century Turnpike. Two excellent and informative accounts in Frank's most articulate style.

Sefton Park and the Evolution of Urban Park Design by Margaret J. Putt. A most interesting article about the 19th century origins of Liverpool's most well known park.
