Listings are usually published in August and open days held early September, but conferences and day schools may be added during the academic year. Credits are available for most courses towards formal awards.
CERTIFICATE HE (HISTORICAL STUDIES) The Certificate HE (Historical Studies) is offered by the School of History through the CE programme and is aimed at those part-time students who wish to gain a formal award from their studies. Students will be expected to complete a programme of study which totals 120 credits from a list of specified modules. Some modules are taught outside Liverpool. Modules currently offered are indicated by the symbol HS in this prospectus. The MA in Landscape, Heritage and Society is a two-year, part-time modular programme, which is designed to:
provide students with the opportunity to acquire a broad understanding and appreciation of the historical development of the British landscape in relation to human activities
examine, in greater depth, selected themes and topics in a national, regional or local context
explore the ways in which the historical landscape and physical heritage of Britain have been managed, conserved, interpreted and presented by past and present generations.

History courses at Burton Manor cover a wide range of subjects, including national history, e.g. Roman Briton, and ancient history, e.g. Egyptian, Chinese history, as well as local and family history.
After the success last year, they are again offering you the opportunity to attend Day lectures: a full day of four related, yet distinct, lectures from four experts. Day includes refreshments and 2 course lunch, with Question & Answer sessions.
